Hitachi mainframe. Although this package is a standard product from
Dallas Systems Corporation, it has been customized by Wellcome to suit
their information system. The WHS has an interface with the following
applications, which also run on mainframe: Purchase Order
System(POS), Stores Order System(SOS), and Post Billing
System(PBS).
Wellcome has now decided to move these applications from mainframe to
UNIX during next few years. As a first step to this transition,
Wellcome has decided to replace existing Dallas WHS package with the
UNIX version of Dallas package. As the Warehouse system has interfaces
with POS, SOS, and PBS (they will be referred to Host System) new
interfaces are required to be designed and developed to transfer data
between host systems and the New Dallas System (NDS).
