Pilot Plant Operations Team Manager/
Operations, Maintenance, and Services Team Leader (2007-2010)
Managed two teams, Pilot Plant Operations and Operations Maintenance and Services. I was challenged to drive the teams to Process Safety Management standards and increase unit data reliability. This was during a period of threefold growth of the workforce. Several processes were developed and rolled out including new hire training, procedure writing, reliability tracking, and preventative maintenance programs. The group's safety record improved utilizing Process Hazard Analysis, Job Safety Analysis, Management Of Change processes. I authorized 100+ MOC's in 2009 alone. This involved multiple process and procedure changes on the various pilot plants.
Notable Accomplishments:
28-year employee - progressed through 9 pay grades during career
The overall group expanded threefold during this period while increasing safety, reliability, and data quality. Reliability of process data improved on 25 plants from 71% in 2008 to 95% at years end 2009
Oversaw development of equipment repair and maintenance database
Training Department was developed under my direction and included 3 week HES training and pilot plant basics and the development and roll out of 12 Training Manuals
Trained dozens of operators on the job or in group sessions, including major process or procedure roll-outs. Considered the Subject Matter Expert on Pilot Plant Operations
Spearheaded metric based unit performance and reporting to various research customers. This data driven approach increased date quality from the plants as outlined above
As Subject Matter Expert, led team that developed multiple troubleshooting guides for use by plant operators
Oversaw development, writing and rolling out of 250+ Standard Operating Procedures
