finances and the revenue incurred by various sectors of Air India. The
system
collects various data (Data relating to flight Ids, passenger ticket
numbers,

and to
generate various reports using Crystal Reports.
Role:
Activities as DBA included the following:
Data Sourcing: Development of tools for downloading data in flat
files from
IBM/Unisys mainframes and loading into Oracle database. The shell
scripts
that run as cronjobs every day ftp the Data Flat Files from various
sites and
run SQLLOAD to load into Oracle Tables.
Schema Maintenance: Responsible for creating and trouble shooting
database,
defining ORACLE parameters, creating/altering tables and managing
table
spaces, creating indexes and clusters and properly defining foreign
keys to
maintain referential integrity. Also responsible for documenting,
version
controlling of Schema SQL file and releasing schema.
Performance Tuning: Activities Included the following:
Involved in query optimization and normalization. Utilized SQL Trace
Facility, TKPROF and "EXPLAIN PLAN" commands to analyze queries
executed by
application, and improved performance by effectively writing SQL and
properly
defining indexes.
Monitored network, disk, CPU etc., for ensuring best performance and
set
Oracle parameters properly for best performance.
Greatly improved the performance of Data Sourcing tools by utilizing
"Partitioned Views" feature of ORACLE.
Wrote numerous stored procedures and triggers for efficiently
performing
time consuming database processing and to enforce proper business
logic
rules.
Backup and Recovery: Involved in defining Backup and Recovery
strategies.

A menu driven system used by Machinery/Auto Part Retailers to generate
quotes
for the configuration of various parts that are requested by
customers. The
system maintains the information related to various suppliers, the
items
provided by them, such as individual automobile parts, their brand
names and
prices. The system also maintains a set of rules that enforce certain
pre-
determined configurations. A customer can follow these rules to come
up with
an optimal configuration which is best suited for the price and
purpose. The
system also maintains the previously generated quotes for reediting.
Role:
