Professional Experience
March 2008 to November 2012
NEVION USA Oxnard, CA
Hardware Design Engineer
Design, developed and tested FPGA code for 6xHD-SDI/SD-SDI/DVB-ASI plus 2xSD-SDI
Multiplexer/Demultiplexer over OC-192c/STM-54 cards
Tested and troubleshot board hardware issues
Verified, tested and troubleshot logic design using ModelSim and Chipscope
Project parameters
The cards provide the transport of multiple uncompressed video HD and SD signals over SONET/SDH network. Six HD-SDI and two SD-SDI independent digital video signals can be transported over single or dual optical link with automatic protection switching. When used with other compatible modules high density, lossless video transport can be achieved
Design, developed and tested FPGA code for Multiplexer/Demultiplexer card used in applications that require transport of a mix of signals over SONET OC-48c/STM-16 and IP/Ethernet network
Tested, verified and troubleshot logic design using ModelSim and Chipscope
Tested and troubleshot video over IP/Ethernet using SmartBits Ethernet test equipment
Project parameters
The product is used in applications that require transport of mixed signals over SONET OC-48c/STM-16 network infrastructures. It automatically detects and transports HD-SDI,HD-SDTI,SD-SDTI and DVB-ASI video formats. The cards can be configured for 8x270 Mbps or 1x1.5 Gbps and 2x270 Mbps. Video signals can be transported over single or dual optical link with automated protection switching or over IP/Ethernet.
Implemented and tested FPGA code for transport video over SONET-OC-3c and OC-12c network
Wrote test benches and performed simulations using ModelSim to verify and optimize the design performance
Edited product System of Requirements documentation including clarification of design block diagrams
Project parameters
Multi-format Contribution Codec for IP/ Ethernet and SONET/SDH Networks provides linear encapsulation of uncompressed SD-SDI,HD-SDI and 3G-SDI and in addition DVB-ASI signals. It also provides JPEG2000 compression for video over bandwidth limited circuits.Users can deploy multiple video circuits in point-to-point local loop applications or over long-distance packetized networks.
Designed and tested a stand-alone Outdoor Device Unit for NASA video surveillance system at Kennedy Space Center
Provided design schematics using Mentor Graphics tools
Wrote User Manuals, Test Procedures and System of Requirements documentation
Troubleshot, tested and resolved board hardware issues
Project parameters
Stand alone outdoor unit provides interface between 10/100BASE-Tx Ethernet input and 100BASE-FX optical output. At the same time the unit provides Power over Ethernet to video camera limiting the necessity for external power supply. Suitable for mounting within NEMA 4 enclosure or mounting on a flat horizontal or vertical surface
January 2007 to March 2008
STRATOS/Emerson Chicago, IL
Electrical Engineer
Designed, developed and tested FPGA code for four channel AES audio Embedder/De-Embedder
Troubleshot and resolved hardware issues
Project parameters
The module embeds/de-embeds four AES audio streams into/from HD video electrical and optical input signals.
Module was controlled via key pad OLED display or Ethernet port Responsibilities regarding other projects:
Troubleshot, tested and simulated FPGA design for 8-channels HD TDM Multiplexer/Demultiplexer
Provided software support for VMC receivers and transmitters.
April 2004 to April 2006
University of Illinois at Chicago Chicago, IL
Graduate student
Unique study of infrared detectors at room temperature
Modeled and tested HgCdTe infrared detectors
Analyzed nano-structures with primarily focus on phonon interaction in carbon nano-tubes
Analyzed charge transport characteristics of macromolecules
Education
2006 University of Illinois at Chicago Chicago, IL
Master of Science Electrical Engineering
2004 University of Illinois Chicago, IL
Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering
