) Involved in developing a visualization software using dVise

to simulate the response of a ship due to the wave motion in ocean on

configuration of networks, trouble shooting, shell programming,

answering questions over phone, making work orders and resolving

hardware conflicts on PCs. Worked in a team of five. Users include

clerks, professors, and students. PROJECTS Involved in analysis,

design, coding, and testing of a software for a Registrars database

query system using object oriented software engineering

approach(Booch). Registrar's database was developed using

Entity-Relationship design technique. Defined functional dependencies

and normalized the database to third normal form. It was a relational

database created using SQLPLUS in ORACLE 7.3.2. The query system

involved client/server architecture and TCP/IP protocols. The server

had embedded SQL queries written in PROC. The client was developed in

C++. Language and Operating System: C++ and SunOS 5.3 Implemented

multiple inheritance, polymorphism, and virtual functions in C++ for

bank accounts class hierarchy in SunOS 5.3 environment. Also,

Implemented an abstract base class in C++ for ordered sequences

including pure virtual functions for sorting bank accounts. Developed

a scanner and SLR(1) parse table for a given CFG grammar in UNIX

environment. It also involved developing a template class, including

operator overloading, for matrix operations. Language and Operating

System: C++ and SunOS 5.3 Developed a search engine including a

multi-threaded daemon server for multiple clients which searches for a

keyword in the root directory structure on all the hosts on the given

subnet and returns the matching items to the clients. In this project

subnet directed broadcast was implemented. TCP/IP and UDP/IP transport

protocols were used in this server development. Language and Operating

System: C and Solaris 2.3 Implemented a trivial file transfer protocol

(ftp) using SunOS RPC for multiple clients. UDP/IP protocol was used

SunOS 5.3 A distributed client/server application program involving

timestamp ordering concurrency control for distributed databases on

wide area networks. Wide area network was simulated using IP loosely

coupled source routing. Programming interface for IP source routing

was developed. This project involved raw sockets, and customized UDP

datagrams. Language and Operating System: C IRIX 6.2 and SunOS 5.3

Developed a print server involving mutex locks using Solaris threads.

This project involved implementation of a queue data structure,

condition variables, and mutex locks in SunOS environment.

Producer/Consumer algorithm was used for this implementation. Language

and Operating System: C and Solaris 2.3 Developed a parallel file copy

program in Solaris environment. It creates a thread, to copy all the

files in the source directory to destination directory. If a file in

the source directory is a directory, it creates another thread

recursively to copy all files in that directory. A linked list of

node-structures was implemented. A non-threaded version of this

program was also developed and compared with the threaded version.
