PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
COLD SPRING ENGINEERING LLC. SB, CA,(Automotive S/W Engineer
-Embedded S/W Engineer: Contractor for a manufacturer of
diagnostic scan tools.
* Enhanced the protocol handler(s), for an embedded system
running a 32 bit PXA-270 processor with a J1850 FPGA,
running under linux(2.6.24). Development environment was
Linux, -C-, Java Netbeans 6.91 IDE, GNU GCC (4.21), GDB.
Debugging often with h/w and s/w bus monitors and scopes at
customer sites and lab.
-S/W Test Engineer for CDR (Crash Data Retrieval) group
responsible for black and white box testing analysis and
support of unit tests, system tests, download tests,
validations, regression tests and final reports.
(MSV6 VB6, Java, SQLite)
NOVA RESEARCH, Solvang, CA Defense Contractor (Infra Red
and High Speed camera systems)
-Sr. Software Engineer: Participated in the design,
development, calibration and testing of high speed I.R. and
visible camera systems (InGaAs & InSb). Responsible for
embedded S/W, an API and a number of GUIs for camera control
(Win XP MSVC++/MFC and Linux/GNU).
* Curtis Wright System - I was responsible for writing S/W
for a Curtiss Wright (CW) based embedded Linux system
controlling NOVA`s LVASI (InSb) 1024x1024 camera. The
-system-, consisted of the LVASI camera with its internal
XILINX FPGA connected both via USB and a SCSI-3 parallel
interface to the CW system. It includes the DSP single
board computer (running Linux) with an Alpha Data FPGA
Mezzanine board (PMC) mounted to it, a VME single board
computer (running Windows) and an I/O interface board for
connecting the camera and optionally an external frame
grabber. The high level S/W runs on the Linux SBC, with
an Ethernet server running on the Win SBC.
* USB Controlled Systems - I enhanced our Linux based VASI
visible and MWIR camera control S/W. Supported various
specialized on chip windowing, sub-windowing and back-
ground resolution manipulating features to achieve high
frame rates required. Also worked on a -hot spot- auto-
tracker feature and a specialized proprietary AGC
algorithm that enhanced the FPA performance by
optimizing the FPA`s unit cell`s well fill.
Experiences included being sole in-house S/W person
responsible for GUI control for two newly designed cameras
from requirement gathering to delivery. Host S/W interfaced
via CameraLink and supported basic camera, configuration
and calibration controls for both cryo cooled and TE cooled
FPAs along with various Non-Uniformity Correction (NUC)
schemes. Trained and installed at one site.
(Linux, C, MSVC++, MFC)
VEECO METROLOGY, Santa Barbara, CA Manufacturer of
metrology equipment.
- Sr. Software Engineer: Responsible for new product
development, debugging and support, emphasis on precision
motion control for the automated atomic force microscope
(AFM) product line. Also supported multiple -Legacy-
code lines and was the S/W person responsible for
resolving issues from Systems, Sustaining, Applications,
Manufacturing and Field service teams. C/C++/MFC
* Enhanced and maintained existing software, responsible
for unit and integration testing and debugging, writing
engineering procedures, tech support notes and end user
documentation. Also researched, prepared and conducted
various training classes, and served as SQA as needed.
* As S/W Lead on Veeco`s first 3D AFM (X3D) product, managed
development project, including conducting reviews and
meetings, coordinating Marketing demands with resources
while keeping the team on an impossibly aggressive
schedule. Presented with -Outstanding Performance Award-
for work above and beyond the call of duty (Lead 6 - 8
S/W Engineers)
* The -stage guy-, responsible for supporting Aerotech,
Magellan, Galil and Motion Engineering Inc.`s motion
control systems for various precision stages.
* The -Systems guy-, responsible for supporting integration
of whole system, vision system, motion system, robot, and
including the tools network(s). Networks included support
of host controllers, TCP-IP Client/Server motion control,
FireWire Cameras, and a CANNET communications network.
* Helped with S/W subsystem requirements and designs, with
respect to integrating the multiple CCD cameras into the
system, special Pattern Recognition features and a number
of overall system capabilities and automation needs.
[1996 - 1999]
SPUTTERED FILMS Films Inc, Santa Barbara, CA
A leading Semiconductor manufacturer of MR and GMR Capital
Equipment.
- Sr. Software Engineer: Responsible for new product
development, debugging and support of various robotic
equipped PVD vacuum sputtering systems. Responsible for
programming GUI controller and low level -PLC- controller.
New System used Sparc/Solaris GUI controller running under
UNIX: GUI S/W was WonderWare`s InTouch and employing
Opto-22`s Mistic 200 M6840 -PLC- using Cyrano. Old
system used PC/QNX for controllers utilizing FASTech`s
Cellworks S/W. Equip robot and Parker 6250 Motion
