GENERAL SUMMARY

I have managed or supervised sawmills, veneer and plywood plants for over 20 years. My forte is successful startups, building mills, start-ups, and turning around marginal mills.

GOAL

My goal is to make a mill profitable through the safest and most efficient operations while maintaining a low manufacturing cost with the optimum product mix. I aim to produce a high quality product that ships on time, and retains customers.

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

10/10 – 12/11 Midway United/ EFK Plywood, Sosnovovorsk, Russia

Plywood Project Manager/ Technical Director

Construct and commission new plywood plant. Trained Russian work force in N. American plywood plant operations. I supervised construction and installation of all the new equipment, and trained operators and supervisors during startup of the new $100 million facility.

2/04 – 6/09 South Coast Lumber Company, Brookings, OR

Sawmill General Manager

Manage manufacturing operations, including; Sawmill/ Studmill, Planer and Shipping. I sold all the By-Products, including chips, sawdust and hog fuel. I was Project Manager for building the new Sawmill which started in May 2005. Current lumber capacity is 140 mmbf/ shift.

2/99 – 2/04 Roseburg Forest Products, Roseburg, OR.

Lumber Operations Manager

Manage one of the largest sawmill complexes in the United States. Two primary breakdown centers with capacity to produce over 400 mmbf per year of Doug Fir, Hem Fir and Pine lumber. Log processing, sawmilling, kiln drying, planing, shipping, co-gen and sales functions included. 272 union employees. Full P & L responsibilities.

10/92 – 2/99 Warm Springs Forest Products Industries, Warm Springs, OR

General Manager

Manage all operations including logging and log merchandising, sawmill, veneer, plywood, cut stock, co-gen and sales. Manage timber harvest on 330,000 acres of tribal timberland on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation.

12/89 – 10/92 Central Point Lumber Co. (WTD Inc.) Central Point, OR

General Manager

Manage high volume computerized sawmill with 124 employees. Produced 96MMBF of lumber per year. Responsibilities include log purchases and timber sales, lumber production, and lumber and by-product sales.

10/72 – 10/76 U.S. Air Force

Captain/ Pilot

Aircraft commander on four engine turbo prop jet transport. Supervised crew of six. Squadron flight scheduling officer.
