Chemical/Technical Support Representative: Phosphate Line

A full time contractor for Henkel Surface Technologies at the GM Assembly Plant in Arlington Texas in the paint dept.

working for Aerotek Scientific LLC.

I was the plants paint dept. Phosphate Pretreatment System Representative responsible for the inventories and ordering of all chemicals for the system - bulk tankers, totes, drums, etc.

I was the technical rep. for a 12 step, 245,000 gallon chemical and water system (that the jobs went into prior to being primed and painted) that added a microscopic phosphoric/zinc buildup on the metal making it more corrosion resistant and more readily acceptable for paint adhesion. Responsible 24/7 for the

phosphate system at GM.

Also responsible for the 3 GM operators (that worked 24/5 - 3 shifts) daily chemical concentration numbers, technical help, trends, SPC charts etc.

Responsible for all of the GM lab and chemicals for the phosphate system.

I assisted GM in processing jobs through the phosphate dept. by maintaining the appropriate level of knowledge of products, processes, and equipment.

I planned the GM operator`s weekly tank cleaning schedule and the recharging of the chemical tanks.

I was also responsible for ( once or twice a year) chemical cleaning of the entire phosphate system during a

plant downtime using bulk tankers of nitric and hydrochloric acids and neutralizing the acids after

cleaning of the system and then discharging to the waste water treatment plant.

I was responsible for the MSDS's of all phosphate chemicals.

I was also on the Hazardous Material Committee at the GM plant in Arlington.

Combining various chemicals and other raw materials into 600 gallon batches to make flooring adhesive products.

With utmost concern for safety, used forklift to move the raw materials from the warehouse to the mixing platform.

Ensured that the proper ingredients went into the batch at the proper time and in the correct amount to have

batch end up with the exact specifications called for.

Using pH, and viscosity meters, and a solids testing machine, (Computrac 2000 solids/moisture analyzing

machine), did lab tests on batches made, documented data and did self-monitoring reports, completed batches per

schedule, pumped the completed batches to the proper holding tanks. Also did 1 year of shipping and receiving.

nitrates, fungus and bacteria.

Unloaded and dispersed chemicals, maintained pumps and pumping equipment throughout the plant (to 24 different chemical injection sites) using forklift and hand dolly.
