Project Introduction : This project involves keeping track of bugs
that are
reported by the client. The bugs have a priority and a status. The
priority is
assigned by the administrator. This priority defines the time frame in
which
they have to be fixed.
The administrator is also responsible for assigning the bug to a
Quality
Assurance Engineer. It is the responsibility of the Quality Assurance
Engineer
to fix the bug. The system is capable of generating many reports based
upon
priorities, name of the project etc.
The front is developed using JSP and HTML. Servlets handle the
requests coming
through the front end. The servlets are interacting with a session
bean which
is in turn interacting with an entity bean. The entity bean is finally
responsible for fetching/storing data in the database. A data bean is
being
used for transferring the data from the database to the front end.
As a Team Member, was responsible for the following activities:

Project Introduction : This software is designed to manage the
organization of
the conferences, meetings and training sessions for small business. In
order to
use the system, the user must login with the user name and password.
Once
logged in, they can view a list of all existing conferences. For each
conference, it is possible to see a list of registered participants.
User can
add and remove participants of a conference. The software is web
enabled. The
front end is written using JSP and the request processing is done
through
servlets. The business logic of the application is implemented using
session
and entity beans with container managed persistence
As a Module Leader, I was responsible for the following activities:

Project Introduction : Data gathered in Mill and Furnace systems are
periodically analyzed to improve their performance. A lot of analysis
has to be
done with the data. This process was web enabled through a web based
reporting
system which uses Oracle server as the backend and Java as the front
end.
The real time data is logged in flat files on the VAX server. Using
sockets,
the data is brought onto the Oracle Server. Here a Java program parses
the
comma separated data using string tokenizers. The data is then
populated in the
tables which mirror the file data. The front end is developed in JSP
and HTML
and the data is accesses from the database using servlets.
The architecture is two tier as the oracle database and the web server
are on
the same physical machine. The servlets use the JDBC - ODBC bridge to
perform
the database connectivity.

4. Hot Strip Mill Run Out Table Cooling System October 1998 -

Project Introduction: The final quality of hot rolled strips is
determined by
the type of cooling they undergo in the Run Out Table. This was
earlier done by
mere guesswork. Developed a software which uses a mathematical model,
to
calculate the number of headers to be opened. As a result of this, the
strip is
cooled within 15 degrees of the desired temperature. The model is
adaptive in
nature and the tuning is done automatically based on the feedback
received from
the Level1 hardware. This project saved an approximate amount of half
a million
dollars for the company.
As a Team Member, was responsible for the following activities:
Analyzed user requirement and performed system analysis
Designed the offline model using C and validated it using real data
Designed and developed the modules using VAX C for real time
implementation
Involved in testing and debugging of the application
Provided training to the end user

5. Hot Strip Mill Level II Automation July 1998 -

Project Introduction : For producing hot rolled strips, slabs have to
be
heated. This is done in a reheating furnace. Furnace automation was
carried out
by developing a software for controlling the various parameters inside
the
furnace so as to optimize the fuel used. The temperature of the slabs,
in
various portions of the furnace, need to be different depending on the
properties desired. So an exact status about the position of the slabs
inside
the furnace has to be known . This software also has provisions to
track the
movement of the slabs inside the furnace.
As a Team Member, was responsible for:
