2009 Discovery Channel Maps iPhone Application Development: Managed design and
development of twelve Discovery Channel branded iPhone applications including outside
consultant interaction and content development.
2009 Discovery Channel Flash Interactives: Managed the creation of two geographically
based flash interactives for program directors at Discovery Channel. Web launch coincided
with television programs season and series launches.
2008 Stockmaps.com Creation: Wrote business rules and specification for an ecommerce
website designed to repurpose existing GeoNova digital maps. Managed the external
development of the site and the internal conversion of maps for sale. Developed internal
QA/QC processes for site management.
2007 Locator Map Generator Engine: Wrote specifications and ran bid process for
development of an engine based on ESRI technology for development high volumes of locator
maps for use by direct mail house clients. After testing various technologies for
implementation, server virtualization proved the best in maximizing output at 800,000 maps
per day while minimizing costs.
2006 Major League Baseball All-Star Game: Coordinated GIS Allegheny County s Emergency
Operation Center in support of Federal Agencies (Homeland Security, FBI, US Marshals).
Worked directly with National Geospatial Intelligence Agency representatives in acquiring
data from disparate sources and performed needs analyses including line of sight tactical
visioning.
2006 Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system request for proposals and selection process:
Specified the GIS architecture. This architecture drove the selection process and caused
chosen vendors core product development to change to match Allegheny County s need.
Project budget is 10 million dollars with an additional 2.5 million dollars for GIS data
and implementation services. When completed, Allegheny County will have a new dispatch
system that will connect with other Emergency Management systems through GIS.
2005-2006 Community outreach program: Facilitate communication between 130 municipal
entities enabling them to work together in data development and infrastructure support.
The goal is to form a relationship where the County provides technological resources and
the municipalities update data.
2005-2006 Allegheny County Comprehensive Plan: Directing GIS work for the Planning
Department in an effort to provide better decision making tools for land development and
infrastructure planning.
2004-Present State meetings: Represented Allegheny County GIS interests. Allegheny was
one of five member counties to form a County GIS advocate organization (County GIS
Professionals Association)
2005 State mandated MS4 program: Managed field GPS data collection process. Saved time
and resources by training and directing Department of Public Works personnel.
2004-Present County Park Boundaries: Provide field GPS mapping support for Parks
Department for land disputes in court.
2004-2005 County Digital Ortho Photography Acquisition: Through a request for proposal
process, contracted with Digital Globe satellite company for aerial photography and
planimetric data update. QA/QC process included internally developed processes based on
datamodel topology rules.
