MS SQL Server DBA Access, Visual C++, SQL Server, Java, Web Database
Installed, configured and replicated the backup server on SQL Server 6.5 version.
Managed and transferred large amounts of data among fifteen production servers on SQL
Server. Loaded a very large database of over 200 GB to the production server.
Performed successful troubleshooting performance problems that existed for sixteen
months on a production server with SQL server 7.0. This production server had 12 user
databases with 120 GB and had been experiencing awful slow screen populations while the
user retrieving a record from the server on an index field, many 3rd party reports
connecting to the server will be timed out, and occasional timeouts when attempts to
modifying table structure.
Planned and installed SQL Server 2000 standard edition to upgrade large client-server
environment.
Amergen Energy Company, Kennett Square, PA 5/1984-12/2000
MS SQL Server DBA
1/1996-12/2000
Worked as Database Administrator on MSSQL Server 6.x/7.0 with a group on a project of
implementing the customs development server and Testing Server.
Upgraded MSSQL Server 6.0 to MSSQL Server 6.5 and successfully ran the databases on
MSSQL Server 6.5 for the case of Y2K compliant and installed Opensim software package and
loading the applications.
Implemented backup and recovery strategies on development servers and database level
imports and exports using DTS on MSSQL Server 7.0.
Developed, designed and implemented a full cycle data warehousing/mart project to
support the historical plant transient analysis.
Wrote scripts for database to create indexes, primary constraints and written Stored
Procedures and as well as the load the data from/ into the SQL Server.
Ran SQL Server performance monitor to integrate Windows NT performance Monitor with SQL
server providing up to the minute activities and performance statistics as well as to
diagnose system problems and also tracking for SQL Server system to indicate ways to
increase performance. To monitor, capture and analyzing the SQL Server activities,
monitoring queries, stored procedure, locks, transactions and log changes by using SQL
Server Profiler.
Responsible for testing the application and performed tuning the database which
included rebuilding the indexes and optimized theSQL statements and run DBCC commands
against the databases.
Tuned and optimized the queries and make them to run fast in optimal time.
Transferred the whole database from Access and ran the front-end applications with
Visual Basic tool on SQL Server 6.0 successfully.
Extensively involved in performance analysis, tuning, capacity planning and sizing of
the database for specific application, connectivity to the database.
Worked closely with the development teams to give the database access to the users,
setting up user accounts, assigning permissions and managing the storage and to give the
database access to the users and programmed the necessary stored procedure, triggers and
executed queries and benchmarked it.
Focus on administrating the plant computer and simulator software and hardware in a
24x7 high-availability environment to ensure customer satisfaction. Duties included
diagnosis, bug fixes, value-added enhancement, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and
configuration management to the systems.
Closely interacted with development team in implementing a logical and physical
database design for plant computer system replacement. The software development tools
primarily use Microsoft Developer 2000 studio environment, SQL Server 7.0 and Windows 2000
operating system. Successfully configured the required hardware and software prior to
migration of the existing software from Encore minicomputer to a new Windows 2000
servers/workstations via 100BASE-T hub of Ethernet LAN. Duties included NT configuration,
DNS/WNS setup, C/ C++ applications programming for user/system interface routines, SQL
Server 7.0 installation, performance tuning, setting up user accounts, assigning
permissions, and managing storage.

Managed and completed the simulator platform replacement from a minicomputer to a PC-
based client-server environment. Coordinated a project team with team work methodology
included feasibility studies, vendor search, specification write-up, manpower and budget
estimation, scheduling and planning, bid evaluation, meeting minutes issuance and project
coordination. Directed and developed the project by using the off-the-shelf tools from
Microsoft products included Visual C++, Developer Studio, MFC Library, SQL Server 6.0 and
Windows NT. Work included configuration of client-server networking on Windows NT
environment, developing C/ C++ applications programming for user/system interface
routines, Microsoft SQL Server 6.0 installation and maintenance, database physical and
