MASTERS THESIS
Signing & Validating Contracts in Open Computation Exchange & Arbitration Network (OCEAN)
Description: In a market based trading infrastructure the buyer makes a deal with the potential seller by
signing (W3C standards for XML signature) a contract (an XML document) and getting it co-signed by the
seller in return. Each have the ability to validate the contract by extracting the public-key certificate of the
signer from the signed contract and matching it with the digest calculated over the message. This technique
ensures permanent non-repudiability and impossibility of forgery.
Components: Buyer, Seller, Certification Authority, Central Accounting Server
Development Environment: J2EE, XML, Xpath, Verisign TSIK, Servlets, Tomcat, Linux, Windows XP, UML,

PROJECTS
1. Designed and implemented Signing and Validating Protocol for OCEAN
Description: A protocol that enables the buyer to sign and the seller to co-sign the contract once it is
negotiated between the two. It enables each party to verify the signature of the other by extracting the public-
key certificate from the signed contract.
Components: Contract Generator, Contract Signer, Contract Validator
Development Environment: J2EE, XML, Linux, Windows XP
2. Designed and implemented Registration Protocol for OCEAN
Description: A protocol that enables any node, new to the OCEAN network, to register with the Central
Accounting Server by submitting a registration request and obtaining a public-key certificate in return via the
Certification Authority.
Components: Registration GUI, OCEAN node, Central Accounting Server, Certification Authority
Development Environment: J2EE, XML, Linux, Windows XP
3. Developed an online multiplayer game
Description: An online multiplayer Boggle is played in groups of four or less. Each player registers online
with the central server, running a servlet, using HTTP based connection. The game is time bound; performs
word matching, checking, duplicates and simultaneous submissions and assigns points to each player based
on the length of word submitted. The score is multicasted to the respective group of players simultaneously.
Development Environment: Java, Servlets, Tomcat, Applets, XML
4. Implemented Tomasulo s Algorithm for DLX instruction set
Description: Developed a program to read and interpret machine coded program and execute it using
tomasulo s dynamic scheduling algorithm.
Development Environment: Java, Windows XP, Sun Solaris
5. Programmed Motorola smart phone, to work with a glass-mounted display, using J2ME
Description: Motorola smart phone was interfaced with a looking glass mounted display and programmed to
fetch records from the NASDAQ website and display on the micro screen. Another application was developed
to display X-ray images.
Development Environment: J2ME, Windows XP, WHITEboard SDK, Motorola SDK for Java
6. Developed a compiler for a Tiny Language (subset of C)
Description: A complete compiler including lexical analysis, parsing and code generation for a given
grammar. The compiler was tested with several test programs written in a language similar to C. The output
of the program was Java bytecode.
Components: Lexical Analyzer, Parser, Constrainer, Code Generator
Development Environment: Java, Windows XP, Sun Solaris
7. Developed an image-processing tool that implements image manipulation filters
Description: A GUI based image processing tool in which a used can manipulate a JPEG or BMP image
using various image filters.
Development Environment: Java, Windows 95
8. Developed a program to verify the time complexity of fibonacci heaps for shortest-path algorithm
Description: A program was developed to run several tests to verify the time complexity of fibonacci heaps
for shortest-path algorithm when compared to conventional data structures.
Development Environment: C++, Windows 95, Sun Solaris
9. Developed an interactive game for the AI course
Description: An interactive tic-tac-toe was developed in which a user plays with the computer.
Development Environment: C++, Windows 95
10. Embedded a digital watermark in a digital Image using steganographic techniques
Description: Using steganographic techniques, a BMP image was embedded in another larger BMP image.
The final image was sent across the network to another machine where the embedded image was retrieved.
Development Environment: Java, MatLab, Windows 95
11. Developed a remittances package for Punjab National Bank, using PowerBuilder & Sybase SQL Anywhere
