Turn Arounds
Bishamon Industries Corp
. I was hired as CFO charged with turning around the
company. Profits were declining over the past several years to the point where
they were just breaking even. I restructured the management at both the
California and Florida plants. This year the company's profits have grown from
zero to an expected $500K for FY ending June 99.
Maxwell Technologies, Information Systems Division (ISD): I was hiredto
reorganize the finance department of ISD. The accounting system was in a
shambles and the team was completely demoralized and incompetent. Within six
months I completely replaced the weak team members with top performers, passed
the annual audit and reengineered the department. This highly motivated team
is now doing high quality work at half the cost. The division showed it's first
ever profit in the first quarter of FY 98.
At Composite Structures, I replaced the CFO and, with the executive team,
reorganized the factory and administrative staff into Integrated Product Teams.
Our goal was to return the company to profitability within one year. I
developed the FY 97 plan and was a key player in its successful implementation.
The company's was returned to profitability for the first time in three years.
McDonnell Douglas Technologies: I authored, implemented and managed the
company's Program Finance and Control system. I reengineered the accounting
department to reduce cost, eliminate overtime and improve morale.
Eaton Corporation AIL Division: I was put in charge of the financial
administration of a remote office on the B1-B program. The group was
disorganized and losing money. I created the systems for Program Management and
Financial Controls. Through the use of these systems I identified significant
losses on the program. These systems became the basis for the reengineering of
the department's management processes.
Team building
The key to every turnaround is a motivated team of highly competent people
enjoying their work. In every group under my control I have consistently
created such teams. I take my commitment to the welfare and care of my staff as
my top priority. That attitude has consistently rewarded me with a dedicated
and loyal staff commited to excellence.
Finance/Accounting/Administration:
As CFO for Bishamon Industries Corp., Controller of ISD and Chief Financial
Officer and Treasurer of Composite Strucures (CS) I have been fully responsible
for Finance and Accounting, Treasury, MIS, Human Resources, Environmental,
Health and Safety and Program Financial Management. I succeeded in all these
responsibilities.
Project Management / Program Financial Control
I authored MDTI's Program Control system. This effort included the evaluation
and purchase of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) software, development of custom
software, implementation and systems integration, generation of policies and
procedures, and training all users. I formed and managed the Program Controls
departments at both Eaton Corporation and MDTI.
Manufacturing Management / ERP
At Bishamon Industries, I led the evaluation and negotiation effort leading to
the purchase of the company's ERP system. I directed the successful
implementation of the system at all Bishamon divisions. I reengineered the ERP
systems at Composite Structures, Maxwell Technologies and MDTI. At Bishamon I
led the successful evaluation, puchase, negotiation and implementationof their
ERP system. All of these efforts required the reengineering of the organization
and processes to increase efficiency, productivity and profitability.
Contracts Management
I've conducted negotiations on several contracts ranging in cost from $20K to
$5M both in a role as vendor and customer. I have administered all phases of
procurement from proposal preparation, contract negotiation, change orders and
contract closeout.
