Full-time Senior Software Engineer, September 2008 to Present
User Experience Architect responsible for improving all product user interface visual designs as well as creating
corporate standards for design patterns, reusable components, and screen flows. Also responsible for
evangelizing User Experience tools and methods in order to increase product ease of use through usability
testing techniques and bringing the end user to the forefront of the software lifecycle.
Established company s first User Interface Standard documentation for products to ensure a
common brand / look and feel across all products. Received acceptance from product
management and development community.
Re-designed the homepage of a storefront site (global.ihs.com) that resulted in a 20% increase in
sales per day totaling ~$1.7 million per year.
Use of web design skills to develop wireframes and prototypes for various products. (HTML,
JavaScript, CSS, PhotoShop, .NET)
Conducted end user interviews to analyze prototype designs before developing products. This
early involvement of the user community prevented hours of enhancement requests before
products went live.
Established and supported a feedback forum for all products to use. Before, users emailed in
requests and would not hear back about the request. Now, users have transparent visibility about
their enhancement requests with a product community and can vote on other ideas. Tool also lets
product managers prioritize enhancements for future releases and communicate with their
product s user community.
Established a corporate-wide User Experience Advisory Board to tap into the collective intelligence
at the company to create a community that assisted in the development of standard s and sharing
the knowledge of the board s effort within their respective communities. This was the key factor in
successfully launching and using the UI Standards.
Re-designing company intranet portal to improve usability and find -ability of topics related to
human resources, benefits, policies, events, training, and news per region. Activities include:
usability testing, card sorting, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, content evaluation,
