Networking Engineering :

Responsibilities

DMS is a Networking Solutions Provider, as well as a Microsoft CTEC. I was hired at DMS

to take over the training center portion of their business. I was responsible for

providing instruction for all Microsoft, Citrix, Cisco and Comptia classes. With training

down due to the economy, I was also glad to assist the Integration side of the business.

Areas of my expertise that especially came in handy were firewall implementations, network

security assessments, router installations, general network troubleshooting and network

installations. My in-depth knowledge of Windows 2000 and Active Directory also came in

very handy to an integrator that was primarily focused on Citrix implementations and NT

4.0 networks. Here I also obtained an extensive knowledge of the Citrix Metaframe

environment, and performed multiple installations. I also implemented a monthly newsletter

focused on todays latest technology.

Reason for leaving

After several years of commuting from Bartow to the Tampa Bay Clearwater area, the

commute and the issue of other peoples road rage has finally convinced me that the daily

commute had to end. I am looking for something local.

LMCT was a networking solution provider when I was hired. I was brought aboard because of

my in-depth hands on knowledge, and my experience as a Microsoft Instructor. LMCT was

looking for an individual who could not only make a CAT 5 cable, but also configure an

Exchange server, install networks from the ground up, perform SQL 7 installations, etc. I

performed several network installations, NT 4.0 server installations, RAS solutions, and

maintained their own internal network. I provided these services, as well as, became their

first engineer to explore the field of network security. I installed several firewalls for

clients of LMCT. I also performed network security assessments for financial institutions

to bring them to compliance with the Gramm Leach Bliley Act to take effect this year.

During this time, the company opened TechStreet Training, a technical education center. My

responsibilities were then split between teaching classes for TechStreet Training and

performing integration work for LMCT. LMCT is now known as Castlegarde, a company that

specializes in security solutions.

Feared the companys stability, and did not agree with certain business practices.

Location. They are located on Dale Mabry across from Mons Venus. I taught night classes

and did not feel safe. I was also made a better offer.
