Day and a virtual tour of the military memorials in Washington, D.C.

edited and designed Disability Funding News, an 18-page biweekly
newsletter. Covered federal and state legislation, interviewed public
officials, attended meetings and conferences and made contacts with
disability associations and Capitol Hill staff. Reported on federal and
private grant opportunities and awards. Wrote features on fundraising
strategies, grant writing advice and successful programs benefiting people
with disabilities. Edited articles by contributing writers.
Staff Writer, Times Community Newspapers: February 1993 - May
1994
Covered the Fairfax County School Board and local news in the
Town of Vienna, writing six or more stories per week. Was the only weekly
newspaper reporter who traveled to West Virginia to cover the extradition
hearing of accused murderer Ralph Shambaugh. Broke the story that several
Vienna restaurants were incorrectly charging the town's meals tax. Regular
contributor to the Weekender section, including cover stories,
humorous columns and restaurant and entertainment reviews.

Covered several Northern Virgina communities for The Connection
newspapers. Contributed eight or more stories per week. Broke the story
that the Town of Vienna government violated the First Amendment by
displaying a nativity scene on town property. Wrote About Town, a
