MS-Windows application used to present defibrillator data to

physicians. Duties include all changes to Software Requirements

Specification, management of five subordinate engineers and three

consultants, issue resolution during development and validation,

tracking progress of the project, releasing software to Document

Control department, participating in software design reviews, and

interfacing with other departments within the company. Four major

versions were released over three years.

Job Title: Senior Software Engineer

Created an in-home patient

telephonic telemetry collection system for implantable heart

defibrillators. Responsible for system engineering and all software.

System engineering responsibilities include determining required

hardware, processor selection, and interface specification for

hardware I/O. Software responsibilities include fully documented

source code (30,000 lines of 'C'; 5,000 executable statements),

complete software design documentation, creation and execution of unit

test procedures, and technical assistance during the software QA

validation phase. Algorithms implemented include reliable modem

protocol, pulse width modulation and demodulation used for

communicating with the defibrillator, interface to real-time operating

system, audible tone generation, extensive use of finite state machine

techniques, and all hardware interface and CPU control code.

Breton Engineering

Danville, CA October 1992 - Present Job Title:

Software Engineering Consultant

Provided part-timesoftware

engineering services on a contract basis to Trimble Navigation's

Global Positioning System (GPS) products. All code was written in 'C'

or 68000 assembler. Work included developing a source level debugging

system, porting existing code to a new compiler version, adding

SEEPROM hardware and software to existing products, rewriting serial

I/O drivers in 'C', adding software to support custom communications

protocols for special releases, fixing software bugs, and adapting

existing software from other divisions to work on OEM products.

Provided part-time software engineering services on a contract basis

to Ashtech, Inc. for their Global Positioning products. All code was

written in 'C'. Work included integrating a PCMCIA solid state disk

file system into an existing GPS receiver. This required a review of

the existing source code for the file system, identification of

portions specific to hardware or environment, and modifying code to

work within the product.

Software Consultant

Provided software service for Argo Systems in

Sunnyvale, CA. Hired to modify existing software for use in a radar

signal classification system. Work was performed in a multi-processor

environment using assembly, Pascal, and 'C' languages. Code developed

includes user interface screens, shared memory communication between

processors, diagnostic tests, communications protocol implementation

and debug, and integration of fine direction angle sub-system.

Approximate amount of original software added was 4,000 lines of

source code in 16 weeks. Accepted a variety of small projects at

various companies on a short term basis. Representative assignments

included tasks such as developing IEEE-488 interface libraries for

test equipment, installation of computer software and modems for file

transmission, and development of spreadsheets to solve specific tasks.

Designed hardware and wrote software for a weather facsimile display

program. This software was written in 'C' and operated on Amiga

computers. Software was responsible for performing FM demodulation of

a shortwave radio signal and mapping of data to gray scales for

display in real time. All software developed was eventually

contributed to the public domain.

lines of 'C' code. Programs allowed telescope to perform automated

star tracking, power measurement, and Host computer interface.

Included drivers for IEEE-488 controlled instruments on an HP-9000/310

computer system and IBM-PC computer. Duties included site installation

in Japan and extensive documentation. Responsible for the development

and construction of an Antenna Penal Precision Measurement System;

including the original system design, calibration scheme, parts

procurement, and final assembly. Software developed for the project

was written in 'C' and targeted for an IBM PC-XT. This task included

all phases of design and costing to deliver two complete systems.
