ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE
Environmental Engineer 1, ARCADIS U.S. Inc., Syracuse, New York. October 2008
through August 2011.
The primary function of the Construction and Environmental Services division at
ARCADIS is to design, build, operate, and maintain remedial groundwater treatment
systems and in-situ treatment programs. I worked on dozens of projects throughout the
United States and Canada for major industrial clients. My tasks included designing small
pump and treat systems, performing headloss calculations in complex pipe networks,
sizing pumps, selecting appropriate equipment and technology for a given design,
working with equipment vendors, performing construction oversight, managing the
regulatory permit reporting requirements (including NPDES and RCRA) for a major
factory demolition project, writing subcontractor scopes of work, construction work
plans, operations and maintenance manuals, and health and safety manuals.
Industrial Hygienist, AECOM, East Syracuse, New York. May 2007 through August
2007.
As an intern in the Industrial Hygiene department at AECOM, I became a licensed New
York State air sampling technician and asbestos project monitor. I worked on asbestos
abatement projects throughout Central and Western New York. My duties included
setup and calibration of air sampling pumps, entering regulated work areas in order to
monitor abatement work and ensure compliance with NYSDOL Code Rule 56,
conducting visual inspections according to the ASTM standard, keeping a daily legal
record of events, professional interaction with the project contractor and client/site
owner, and writing final summary reports.
