2007-2008 Deakin University: Master of Arts Professional Communication
This course explores an array of communications principles. My Journalism major
covered all aspects of journalistic practice, including hard news, feature and travel
writing, as well as broadcast and multimedia journalism.
2001-2005 Deakin University: Bachelor of Arts (Professional Writing/Literature)
The Professional Writing major involves a variety of subjects designed to develop
excellent writing skills in fiction and non-fiction genres.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE .
03/2011 current Reporter at The Gladstone Observer, Gladstone, Queensland
Daily newspaper covering the Gladstone region. I completed a one-year
cadetship at The Observer and am now the Senior Reporter.
My role as senior reporter involves investigating and breaking news, covering
general news, social issues, politics, industry, business and the environment.
I produce news through print, online writing, video and audio interviews.
I am Chief writer for Better Business and CQ Industry and member of editorial
department s Lead Team
I conduct daily editorial meetings when editors are absent

A monthly magazine in Beijing, dedicated to covering news and topics from
China and Africa. I pitched and wrote articles, edited the work of Chinese
journalists and provided advice to improve their writing skills.
03/2008 06/2009 Producer and Co-host, Global Focus, 94.7 The Pulse, Geelong, Australia
This show, on a community radio station, examined a variety of international
topics, ranging from hard news to culture and personal experiences.
I was responsible for all areas of production; generating ideas, researching
topics, arranging interviews, preparing runsheets, co-hosting the show,
conducting live interviews and operating the control panel. I also designed,
built and maintained the show s website.

Documentary: I worked in a team of three to produce an eight-minute documentary, Yan Yean:
Melbourne s First Water Supply. This documentary, celebrating the 150th anniversary
of the Yan Yean Reservoir, was commissioned by Melbourne Water to be used for
induction programs. We scripted, filmed, and edited the documentary in 2007.
Short Courses: I completed three intensive French language courses at the University of Pau in
southwest France. (2003-2004)
