Tim Johnson

Tim has extensive experience in a variety of relational database environments across a broad range of operating systems, databases, software products, and services. Having spent a number of years specializing in all aspects of installation and implementation of DB2 for MVS, he has subsequently expanded this experience into the UNIX and Client/Server environments. Tim has been involved with the design, and implementation of Client/Server and Data Warehouse applications, using Windows based Client workstations accessing Sybase, Teradata, Oracle, and most recently DB2 for OS/390. Tim is an IBM Certified Solutions Expert - DB2 UDB V6 Database Administration, and also a Certified Sybase Professional DBA (CSPDBA) for Sybase System 11. In addition, he has been involved in the establishment of the Data Administration function, including the development of standards, and the implementation of data modelling and data dictionary tools. He has worked in several different functional areas including application development, development support, database administration, technical and production support. He has been involved in the design and implementation of corporate Data Warehouse applications, requiring specialized modelling and design techniques, and has published an article in the IDUG Solutions Journal, based on these experiences. Tim has been on the executive of the Toronto based Central Canada DB2 Users Group, since its formation at the end of 1985, and is currently the Chair and Webmaster for the Users Group. He was also actively involved with the startup of the Ontario Sybase User Group in 1995, and held the position of the President of the group until November 1997. Involvement with the local DB2 Users Group has also lead to a post with the International DB2 Users Group (IDUG), as chair of the 1998 and 1999 IDUG Technical Symposia in Canada. Active participation the Users Groups has given him valuable exposure to many other DB2 and Sybase user organizations and professionals. EDUCATION: University of Bristol, B.Sc.
