EDUCATION
Yale University, New Haven, CT.
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Sept., 2003 May, 2010 (expected).
Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.
MS in Computer Software and Theory, Sept., 1999 Aug., 2002
University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, Anhui, China.
BE in Computer Science and Bachelor of Laws in International Economical Law, Sept., 1994 July, 1999
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES
Laboratory of Computer Graphics, Department of Computer Science, Yale University, New Haven, CT.
Research Assistant, Sept., 2004 Present
Designed a comprehensive modeling system to reconstruct shape and appearance of objects based on
all kinds of information, such as range scans, color images, stereo vision methods, spectrum
measurements, traditional tools, and so on, in an adaptive and incremental way.
Designed and implemented a shape capture method using very simple tools, such as pen and paper,
ruler, calipers, contour gage, and so on.
Designed and implemented an illumination removal method for captured images of architectural scale
objects.
Programming languages used: C/C++, Matlab
Devices used: Cyra, ShapeGrabber, NextEngine, X-rite Swatchbook
Dept. of Product Certification, Seagate Technology International (Wuxi) Co., Ltd, Wuxi, Jiangsu, China
Software Engineer, Nov., 2002 July, 2003
Improved the pipeline of hard drive low-level certification test, and modified the pipeline so that it can run
on a single drive with a stand-alone connector instead of the special testing device (called oven), so
made it easier for debugging and more controllable.
Programming languages used: C/C++, Perl, Assemble.
Laboratory of Computer Science, Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.
Research Assistant, Sept., 2000 July, 2002
Designed and implemented a method for program testing using the extended finite state machine
(EFSM). The user inputs a piece of codes (a subset of C) and its specification, my method will find
possible input for the program to violate the specification; if no such input is found, the program is
correct.
Programming language used: GCC.
Laboratory of Software Theory, Department of Computer Science & Technology, University of
Science and Technology of China, Hefei, Anhui, China.
Research Assistant, Sept., 1997 July, 1999
Conducted research on the computability of the problem to reconstruct the 3D shape of an object
from its 2D orthogonal views.
