Projects
Video Search [Research Project]
Abstract: Given a Query, a relevant video is retrieved from a database of video clips
based on any text present in the video. The system developed is robust enough to
handle the variations in the font, size and language. As a necessary requisite, we
have also developed an automated system that stores video clips from news
channels, extracts the probable text regions and efficiently indices them in a
database
Guide: Dr. C.V.Jawahar
Automatic Speech Recognition Systems for Indian Languages
(CMU, Hewlett Packard Labs)
Abstract: The project aims at developing a speech recognition system for Indian
languages. We have developed Speech Recognitions Systems for Telugu, Tamil and
Marathi (The first and the current state-of-the-art speech recognition systems in
these languages).
Guide: Mr. S.P. Kishore, LTI, CMU.
Multi-Media Based City Information System
Abstract: The project involves segmenting satellite information, extracting
information about roads, junctions and providing interface to annotate the map and
later display various multi-media information available.
Guide: Dr. P.J.Narayanan
Removal of Artifacts from scanned documents
Abstract: When a page is scanned, sometimes the content on the back of the pages
is also visible in the scanned image making the documents unreadable. The aim of
this project was to remove those artifacts from the scanned documents using various
digital image processing techniques such as morphing and threshold algorithms. This
project was done as a part of Digital Image Processing course.
Guide: Dr. Jayanthi Sivaswamy
Speaker Identification System
Abstract: We have developed a text-dependent speaker identification system, which
can be used to determine the identity of a particular individual using his voice. The
Implementation was based on Neural Networks and Dynamic Programming. This
project was done as a part of Pattern Recognition course.
Guide: Dr. P.J.Narayanan
