1998 to 2002: Senior Software Engineer, STEP Technology, Portland, OR
STEP was a contract software development firm specializing in Microsoft technologies. Typical projects
included requirements analysis, web site designs using ASP and SQL Server, COM component design,
client status reports, and final project documentation.
Worked on a Windows-based PC security package that involved debugging Windows message handlers
and configuring install scripts.
Performed quality assurance and project management.
1992 to 1998: Staff Software Engineer, Intel Enterprise Server Group, Beaverton, OR
CAE engineer for a server development group. Designed, wrote, documented, and supported software
to assist with design capture, simulation, schematic comparison, and design verification using Mentor
Graphics, Model Technology and other vendors systems.
Led a 9-member CAE support group that created a Mentor Graphics design environment for a 35-person
ASIC design team, then broadened the group s charter to include PCB design support. Developed
support plans, goals, metrics, and standards. Create and documented design methods and system
administration procedures. Automated routine tasks using C, csh, and Perl.
1991 to 1992: Senior Software Engineer, Bipolar Integrated Technology (BIT), Inc., Beaverton, OR
Maintained BIT s ECL Standard Cell library of more than 750 cells. Used a relational database to
automate data sheet production. enhanced Unix-based automated simulation and cell-checking
systems. Documented standards and methods. Supervised one employee.
1985 to 1991: Principal Engineer, Codex Corp. (Motorola, Inc.), Tempe, AZ
CAE software engineer for a VLSI circuit design group. Used C and Fortran to develop methods and
tools for design management, modeling, simulation, schematic entry, physical layout, verification, and
documentation of ICs. Developed a proprietary framework to integrate CAE software from several
vendors. Developed test vector, data path, layout, and schematic generators. Wrote a workstation-to-
mainframe data communication system that included remote job execution, e-mail, and file/directory
transfer which was distributed to 14 sites worldwide. Converted Fortran software libraries to C.
1975 to 1985: Principal Staff Engineer, Motorola, Inc., Semiconductor Products Sector, Mesa, AZ
Co-founded a corporate-wide effort to encourage standardization, cooperation, and re-use among
design groups. Designed a CAE system based on Apollo hardware and Mentor Graphics software.
Formulated design standards and contributed production-quality documented software for worldwide
distribution.
Developed CAE software in Fortran for the IC Applications Research Lab, including a layout design rule
checker, graphics format converter, layout generators, and a mask data preparation system. Wrote
control software and debugged hardware for automotive electronic engine control systems. Specified
and implemented microprocessor cross-assemblers, simulators, and debuggers that ran on several
platforms. Developed layout applications using Calma GDS and GDSII graphics systems.
