My name is Norman S. Vallette, Jr., I am a junior at the University of New Orleans studying
Club: Southern Yacht Club
Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering and I am also a member of Southern Yacht Club. I
began sailing at the tender age of 5 when my dad shoved me off the dock in an Optimist.

Since then I have learned to successfully compete in the Laser, 420, Vanguard 15, & Flying

Scot classes, as well as larger handicap boats such as the Melges 32, J-27, & J-130. After
competing the in Balboa Yacht Club s Governor s Cup from 2006-2008 with Patrick Ryan, I
began to take a liking to match racing. Now we have formed a core group of talented sailors
