Patrick Reicher has been involved in the forensic investigation, structural evaluation, analysis,
and repair design of a number of buildings and structures since his graduation in 2005. Prior to
joining Building Technology Consultants, PC in 2010, he was employed with The Structural Shop
Ltd. in Schiller Park, Illinois from 2005 to 2010, and was a consultant to the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers Construction Engineering Research Laboratory from 2003 to 2005.

Patrick has been involved with over 200 repair projects including structures such as stadiums,
churches, residential and commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities, concrete plazas, roof
decks and balconies. In recent years, Patrick has specialized in building envelope investigations
and repair projects including facades constructed of materials such as concrete, brick masonry,
lannon stone, cast stone, limestone, terra cotta, EIFS, and stucco.
EDUCATION
Patrick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois
Urbana-Champaign in 2004. His undergraduate curriculum consisted of a primary emphasis of
Structural Engineering and a secondary emphasis of Construction Management. In 2005, Patrick
earned a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Illinois
Urbana-Champaign.
Patrick also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Keller Graduate
School of Management in 2012. His curriculum consisted of a concentration in Project
Management.
Over his career, Mr. Reicher has attended numerous seminars related to evaluation, design, and
repair of various building envelope components.
REPRESENTATIVE PROJECTS
Alice C. Millar Chapel, Northwestern University - Evanston, IL
Performed contract administration services during exterior repairs at this religious facility.
Construction included dismantlement and reconstruction of numerous 60-foot tall lannon
stone buttresses, new roofing at top of buttresses, replacement of bluestone facade
components, and comprehensive rehabilitation of the limestone and lannon stone wall
surfaces. ICRI awarded this project an Award of Merit in the Masonry Restoration Category
in 2011.
Glen Ellyn Public Library - Glen Ellyn, IL
Project representative throughout construction for the comprehensive rehabilitation at this
municipal facility. Construction included sloped roof replacement, rehabilitation of the
existing brick masonry and cast stone facade, replacement of existing EIFS facade
components with new drainable stucco system, and interior repairs to reduce thermal loss
through top floor ceiling penetrations.

Wrigley Field - Chicago, IL
Assisted with a hands-on investigation of the reinforced concrete ramps, seating areas, and
concourse elements throughout the stadium. Used non-destructive testing techniques to
document locations of delaminated concrete and rebar corrosion. Developed drawings
and specifications for localized concrete repairs at the stadium.
3950 North Lake Shore Drive - Chicago, IL
Performed construction contract administration services during facade repairs at the three,
23-story condominium towers. Construction included sealant replacement, localized
masonry repairs, and localized concrete repairs. Work was performed over a period of four
years as part of a phased construction sequence.
Seeley G. Mudd Library, Northwestern University - Evanston, IL
Responsible for repair design, bidding assistance, and construction phase services
associated with curtain wall repairs at the Northwestern University s engineering library. Work
included design and certification for new roof tieback anchors, glazing replacement,
localized mullion cap replacement, limestone rehabilitation, sealant replacement, coping
cap repairs, and comprehensive curtain wall cleaning.
Madison 901 Condominiums - Chicago, IL
Responsible for repair design, bidding assistance, and construction phase services
associated with exterior roof and facade repairs at this 10-story condominium building. Work
included demolition of existing roof top screen walls, installation of new flashing system at
concrete roof curbs, application of traffic bearing membranes at exposed concrete
surfaces, and localized roof replacement work.
Hemmingway House Condominiums - Chicago, IL
Performed a comprehensive water leakage and facade evaluation at the 30-story concrete
frame building originally constructed in 1969. The field investigation included water testing at
various locations at the masonry facade to determine sources and causes of water
infiltration. Developed a number of conceptual repair alternatives and performed a life-
cycle cost analysis for differing repair options.

743-755 West Brompton Condominiums - Chicago, IL
Responsible for evaluation, repair design, bidding assistance, and construction phase
services associated with exterior facade repairs at this building located in Chicago s
Lakeview Neighborhood. Work included parapet wall re-construction, new cavity wall
construction, lintel replacements, and roof base flashing repairs. Architectural features to
replicate original crenellations at parapet walls were incorporated in the design.
Prairie Place Condominiums - Chicago, IL
Performed a comprehensive building envelope evaluation at this 86-unit condominium
complex in Chicago s South Loop neighborhood. Component evaluations included EIFS
cladding, brick masonry, stone masonry, windows, doors, exterior sealant, steel guardrails,
low-slope roofs, steep-slope roofs, and grade-level components. A comprehensive report
was issued to assist the association in prioritizing recommended repairs.
Lakewood Commons Condominiums - Chicago, IL
Performed comprehensive evaluations for the bay window systems and low-slope roofing
systems at this 30-unit condominium complex in Chicago s Lincoln Park neighborhood.
Provided the Association with several repair options for the roofing systems, including
detailed cost estimates for each option.
Ashton Park Homeowners Association - Schaumburg, IL
Evaluated interior and exterior conditions at this 130-unit townhome complex to determine
causes for cracking at interior gypsum sheathing wall finishes, tile flooring, concrete slabs-on
grade, and at perimeter foundation walls. In addition to a field investigation, work included
review of sub-soil geotechnical reports and FEMA flood-plain maps to offer an opinion as to
whether an underground culvert located at the property contributes to the observed
cracking.
2 North Riverside - Chicago, IL
Evaluated the integrity of the elevated reinforced concrete plaza slab from atop rolling
scaffold platforms. Mapped delaminated concrete areas and distressed steel beams in
order to compare the current condition of structural elements to conditions documented
during years past. Investigated drainage system and slab waterproofing for sources of
moisture infiltration. Compiled a detailed report listing the need for immediate, short term,
and long term repairs.

Newport Place Rowhouse - Chicago, IL
Project manager for the low-slope roof replacement project at the five-building, 31-unit,
residential property. Produced drawings and specifications for the modified bituminous roof
replacement project, solicited bids from contractors, and assisted with contract award.
Provided construction contract administration services during construction.
Buddy Guy Legends - Chicago, IL
Worked with Burns & Beryl Architects to convert an existing 1920 s era 2-story brick building
into a contemporary Jazz Club and restaurant. The existing lateral system was replaced with
steel moment frame trusses to accommodate architectural layouts. Designed reinforcement
for floors to accommodate assembly loading requirements of the Chicago Building Code.
Provided construction administration services throughout construction.
Anti-Terrorism Measures for Historic Properties
Examined manufacturer/vendor capabilities, collected product data sheets, attended
informational seminars, and researched a variety of technical papers and journals in order to
compile an extensive list of blast retrofit solutions for different structural systems. Evaluated
the implementation of retrofit solutions to comply concurrently with force protection and
historic preservation requirements. Co-author of report documenting the research findings.
Performance Testing of Historically Appropriate Blast Resistant Windows
Conversed with vendors in regards to product specifications and obtained various window
systems to be tested in accordance with ASTM Standard F1642-04. Dynamically tested two
sets of historically appropriate windows in a shock tube facility and documented the results.
Co-author of report indicating research findings and results.
