There are some obvious gaps in my work history. I did some decorating of cakes in the bakery at Wal-mart when I was 18 until I became pregnant and was not able to work. I raised my children for the next 4 years and moved out of state for a better job opportunity which turned out to be Mid South Credit Bureau. There I became acquainted with the collections in past due medical bills, past due bank account balances and loans, and utility bills. My duties as a collector were not only to collect from the debtor but to provide customer service, be understanding, and take necessary actions as needed such as filing insurance, working with outside attorney's to settle motor vehicle accidents and workman's compensation. In the collection field it is important to not let my emotions get to me but also to remember and follow up on new state laws and referring to the FDCPA and HIPAA regulations.

Since graduating high school I have managed to make a small and wonderful little family. Education being the most important thing to not only me but my children, I am working towards my Masters in Child Psychology and hope to have that completed by the summer of 2014. My goal in life is to help children in their daily lives through numerous situations.

I operated a successful business in remodeling homes during the gab in my work history to be able to spend time with my family and attend my classes online.

Working in the collections field has my interest because I did feel at times that I was helping people, whether it be by informing them or helping them step by step on the proper solution. Ive spoken to many families that felt that I was not there to helo them and those are situations I had to learn to deal with in a professional manner and move on.

Working for the Credit Bureau I did learn a lot about statutes and the BBB. I learned the importance on understanding and customer service in our company policies, no matter what. That company taught me a lot that I was unaware of before and learned many more skills than I knew possible.

Collector

Became familiar with HIPAA laws and the FDCPA. State statues on collecting past due accounts, executed fair collection on medical, past due bank balances, and utility accounts more than 90 days past due. Worked with outside attorneys to settle motor vehicle and workman's compensation. Filing necessary insurance in situations where the client allows us to do so. Also working with on hand attorney to prepare suits for garnishment and understanding state laws on those garnishments as well.

I found this to be the most interesting job that I have worked because as it was repetitive most days, I consumed myself in other projects as I mentioned and successfully managed those tasks to keep myself busy and interested.

Cake Decorator

In 2007 when I started at Wal-Mart I was a cashier for about 3 months until a position came open for cake decorator. I knew nothing about that position but applied for it anyway, watched 5 minute tutorial on the dynamics of decorating, took the test and earned that position that I held until I left the company for maternity reasons. I loved that job and found new ways everyday to make it better for myself and my co workers around me.

In obtaining my degree I hope that I will be able to make a difference in the lives of troubled children. It has always been a dream for me to make a difference in some way and children are my weakness. This will be a goal that I succeed at entirely and will be able to be very proud of my accomplishments.

While graduating high school a year early in 2006 as a result from taking Advance Placement Classes and some online summer classes I decided I was going to speed up the process. I made my parents very proud with that aspect of my life because neither one of them graduated from high school only obtaining a GED.
