Windows Resume Loader stuck; no response to keyboard

Dear smart people;

The Cartographer's PC went into sleep mode, then when he started it back up, he gets a Windows Resume Loader screen, telling him to use the arrow keys to choose between two options: "continue with system resume" or "delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu"; Enter to choose. However, the keyboard doesn't work. I checked on line, but all solutions say to enter the BIOS, which we can't, since the keyboard doesn't work. Other keyboards don't work on the PC either. We don't have a keyboard with a PS2 controller.

Halp?

Tried a PS2 converter but that didn't work.

Dislodged and put back the CMOS battery, that worked.

And did you check the BIOS-Settings after that? They're most likely reset.

I'm glad you found a solution. I would have liked to help, but I just have a big 'I dunno' shrug available when this sort of stuff happens

I think that happened to me once. I unplugged the fucker and waited six months for someone to buy a new computer.

Also, if you pull the battery out, how is the computer supposed to remember the date? That's why it picked 2002.
