TUXEDO 6.4 as the middleware component. Duties included running multiple test scenarios to
find optimal queue lengths and services per queue.
H.E. Butt Grocery Company
(Sep 95Nov 98)
Utilizing Informix esql/c I implemented and tested interface programs that took input
from the mainframe systems of HEB and distributed the information across multiple
downstream hosts. Distribution was accomplished via multiple socket threads communicating
via a master controller to each retail site. I designed and implemented additional logic
to handle item management functions that controlled the behavior of items at individual
stores.
Designed and implemented the Advanced shipping notice functionality for the stores. This
involved the tracking of individual items ordered to account for substitutions and shorts
of original amounts. Wrote monitoring daemon to track timely arrival of host ASN feeds and
alert in the event of delays.
I also supported and modified the server portion of the Telxon RF applications. The
applications supported the in store functionality of counting and receiving items as well
as stock status and shelf tag printing. Communications were handles via message queues and
socket connections.
Also supported and modified the stock receiving applications. Changes included modifying
the application to decrease locking and concurrency issues.
I served as the technical lead for the final year of the project, overseeing the
knowledge transfer to HEB personnel for a smooth transfer of responsibilities.
Provided secondary support for the ordering engine functionality which utilized C++ and
Roguewave libraries.

Advanced System Engineer
Southwest Airlines
Project (May 94 - Sep 95) - I served as the technical lead and object
librarian for an object oriented development project utilizing C++ on HP/UX. The project
was a revenue accounting systems for the finance department of Southwest. I designed and
implemented the object to relational layers of the application utilizing libraries from
Roguewave technologies. These classes encapsulated not only the physical implementation
details but also the RDBMS layer as well. I also designed the translation programs that
took sales information from multiple airline entities and converted the data into Sybase
tables using Sybases bulk load utility. I assisted in deploying the HP systems and
installed and configured the Sybase engine for the development team, and later served as
backup for both the systems administrator and database administrator. I also designed
several reporting screens utilizing Powerbuilder.
Dallas Market Center Project
(Feb 89May 94) - I designed and implemented a PC network
based registration for the Dallas Market Center Company using C and Novell Btrieve. The
system tracked attendance to marketing functions and provided demographic and industry
analysis for reporting and mailing. The system utilized low cost client computers with a
Novell Netware server acting as the common data point. The systems supported multiple
sites and forwarded changes to each active location via low cost modem connections. I
supported all aspects of the software as well as the hardware, network and logistical
aspects of its operation. I also maintained and redesigned the COBOL/CICS tenant leasing
systems for the Market Center. This system tracked all their tenant and contract
information and fed their accounts receivable system to enable billing. I wrote programs
that provided mainframe-leasing information to the client PC to enable printing of leasing
contracts faster and speed up negotiations. Mainframe information was interfaced via
direct manipulation of the terminal emulation card present on the PCs.
Loews Anatole Hotel Project
(June 91Oct 91) - I was the operations manager at the
Loews Anatole account during a six-month transition of an EDS contract. I was responsible
for overseeing the 24x7 operations and personnel and coordinated the training and turnover
of responsibilities to a new team. Role was additional responsibility to the Market Center
Project since the Properties were adjacent.

Programmer II
I supported and enhanced the COBOL/CICS systems of the Dallas Central Appraisal District.
The systems are the central repository for property values for several counties and other
taxing entities.
I designed and implemented a field appraisal application utilizing RF terminals. This
enabled the field appraiser to catch errors and get feedback while still viewing the
property. The application also supported messaging to the appraiser in the field from the
home offices. I was also involved in a trial rewrite of the automobile taxing system-using
ADABase/Natural. I also wrote statistical and demographic reporting utilizing COBOL and
report writer features. Provided additional assistance into VSAM optimization for better
