EXPERIENCE
- New York, (2002-2004)
Director of Technology and Distribution. Co-produced two Film Festivals, two DVDs, and six web sites.
- New York, New York (2000-2001)
Managed a team of 10 to produce parser application which XML encoded data from SEC EDGAR filings and other documents. Designed, developed and produced perl parsing engine and VB Quality Assurance application driven by an Oracle database over a 7 month period.
The parser inferred topical information from EDGAR filings, wrapped the information into an XML schema and wrote that information into an Oracle database, which had to handle tables with tens of thousands of rows. I oversaw development of a front end interface in VB that would load the XML data into an environment where data processors and analysts could quality control and publish.
Coordinated the project plan and design with a team of 4 analysts in New York, 3 developers in New York and 8 developers in New Delhi. Reponsibilites included managing the everyday tasks of team members and also ensuring that the project was on track to meet long term goals. Attended Skillpath Management Seminar for new managers.
Travelled to two XBRL conferences to meet with representatives from all major banks, accounting firms and financial service providers to discuss and plan XBRL product development and promotion. This assisted in to business and technology development of XBRL, as well as introducing Global Filings to other companies.
XBRL is an XML-based framework that provides the financial community a standards-based method to prepare, publish in a variety of formats, reliably extract and automatically exchange financial statements of publicly held companies and the information they contain.
Responsible for arranging meetings with and selling the product to representatives from Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley and other financial services companies to sell the product and make partnerships. Assisted with many business development projects, including the design of company's web site, the process flow of other streams of data (including international documents and XML data purchased from third party vendors).
- Portland, Oregon (1998-2000)
Created academic program from scratch for students at all levels in an afterschool support program for inner-city youth. Administered three Windows NT servers on a network of 70+ computers.
Purchased and installed 25 Windows 98 computers for use in SEI student computer lab. Created a database to track student's classes, attendance and
personal information, which was implemented throughout the center. Conceptualized SEI's web page and coordinated with designers, administrators and development staff to move project forward. Set up an Appletalk network and helped shoot and edit movies with digital cameras.
Taught computer literacy courses for students in grades 2-12. Designed curriculum within a relationship model of teaching, mentoring and parenting to meet the extreme needs of youth in program. Trained staff in different computer applications and developed ideas for youth programming in all academic areas. Approached Gates Foundation, resulting in a $75,000 grant to support the continuation of SEI programs.

(1996-1998) Chair, Founder
Trained other students in the installation, use and maintenance of the
Linux operating system. Established contacts with Linux companies like Red
Hat, Corel and Caldera to distribute CDs to students and community
members. Helped to convert 25+ of the Oberlin Computer Science Intel-based
workstations to Linux for student and faculty use.

Committee (1995-1998)
Presented recommendations to the faculty about class structure and
departmental policies. Helped orient and train incoming freshman in the
workings of the CS department.
Oberlin College Forum Board (1995-1998), Chair
Exercised signatory authority over $50,000+ budget, the largest
discretionary budget of any student group. Interviewed leaders of other
student organizations concerning their requests for funds, and assisted in
the planning of speaker series for the college. Transformed the Forum Board into
a positive and effective organization on campus, which
resulted in our allocated budget more than doubling while I was
chair.
- Washington, D.C. (1994-1996)
As a consultant for the Center for Education Technology, suggested and
helped to implement new directions in technology. Developed, designed and
maintained NEA's first web page (www.nea.org). Developed proficiency in the
Solaris operating system and Perl/CGI scripting.
HONORS AND AWARDS
Washington Post Writing Award 1994
Won an essay contest about international relations with Japan. Earned an
all-expenses paid ten-day trip to Japan and Hong Kong for myself and my
Journalism teacher, co-sponsored by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and
Washington Post. Published prize-winning essay comparing gun-control policies in
U.S. and Japan, Washington Post, June 1994.
EDUCATION, Class of 1998
Earned a B.A. in Computer Science with significant coursework in Religion,
women's studies and english. Studied computer architecture, theory, and
Solaris/UNIX and Linux administration and networks. Developed proficiency
in C, Java, SML, Scheme and Perl. Took math courses in Fractals and Chaos,
Discrete Logic, Linear Algebra.

Technology, Class of 1994
Studied Computational Physics, AP Calculus, Statistics, Math Modeling, AP
Physics, AP Journalism, AP Computer Science. Learned to program in C and
configure a UNIX environment.
Researched "Random Walks" fractals as a senior independent project in the
Computer lab. Programmed computer simulation to run on several platforms
of UNIX and developed a literary and visual "Random Walks" theme as
Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning Yearbook.
