MIT Chemical Engineering Ph.D Candidate
Publications/Presentations
I am a Chemical Engineering Ph.D candidate at MIT expecting to graduate in August, 2013. I possess a wide breadth of technical and leadership experiences in both academic and industrial settings. For my Master s Degree, I completed four months of consulting work in industry through MIT s Practice School. During this program, I led teams of engineers in solving important industry problems onsite at both General Mills and a sugar refinery in India. I am currently in the 5th year of my Ph.D at MIT and plan to graduate in August of 2013.
Throughout my Ph.D work, I have seized opportunities to improve and develop my analytic and experimental skills. While designing and installing experimental setups, I have become adept at process automation and data acquisition systems. To complement my experimental work, I pursued rigorous coursework in applied mathematics for my minor. This foundation, comprised of advanced analytic methods and applied statistics, allows me to draw more precise conclusions from my data and develop more effective models. This skill dramatically reduces the time spent on redundant experiments and overly-complicated simulations.
In addition to my technical endeavors, I have also pursued leadership roles in both my lab group and the department acting as the lab manager and an EHS representative. As an EHS representative, I have spearheaded an attempt to implement a system of constant improvement in MIT s EHS system.
My wide array of experiences in electrochemistry, computational chemistry, numerical simulations of dynamic models, automation and data acquisition, process design, and my minor in applied mathematics allows me to help solve problems and develop innovative solutions.
