System Safety Engineer for U.S. Naval Weapon Systems. Seven years experience performing

software Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Testing of U.S. Naval

Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. Additionally, six years active military (USN) as an

Electronic Warfare Technician First Class, operating, testing, and performing

EXPERIENCE

EG&G Services, Systems Engineer, Dahlgren, Va. (Sep. 1996 - Present)

Safety Engineer: Perform life-cycle safety engineering activities for U.S.

military weapon systems. Conduct test and evaluation, system analyses, and safety

certification tasks for various software intensive systems. Develop System Safety Programs

(SSPs) for new and existing military weapon system designs. Assemble technical/engineering

data for high profile Safety Review Boards. Perform safety analyses of system technical

manuals, design documentation, testing and operating procedures. Perform fault tree

analysis to ascertain applicable failure modes for the subject system. Perform Hazard

Analysis activities to identify potential system hazards and subsequently define methods

to eliminate or control these events (i.e., design upgrades, automated controls,

safety/warning devices, or procedural controls). Hazard analyses include software safety

requirement traceability, safety testing, and system hazard analysis methodologies. Meet

with system engineers, software developers and other project personnel, on a regular

of test plans, procedures, and test scripts used to validate and verify software

correctness. Performed various systems engineering duties on EW designs based upon

acquired knowledge and requirement specifications provided by the client. Reviewed concept

and design specifications associated with installing, integrating, and updating various

systems using knowledge of existing and anticipated requirements. Conferred with customer

guidelines set forth in MIL-STDs 2167/498. Collected data and documented software

technical reports and trouble logs, reporting the results of overall software performance

and provided preliminary analysis of program malfunctions. Planned and prepared test

plans, test specifications, test procedures, memoranda and instruction manuals, utilizing

system requirements documents, to support software analysis activities. Reviewed test

plans and procedures verifying technical accuracy and completeness. Reviewed changes to

U.S. Navy, Electronic Warfare Technician, Rank E-6 (Jan. 1984 - Jan. 1990)

Division Supervisor: As lead technician, supervised the operation, testing, and

repair of computer-based EW equipment. Analyzed system malfunctions and interpreted

maintenance manuals for the AN/SLQ-32(V) Countermeasures Set, and associated hardware.

Performed troubleshooting, hardware testing, and repair activities for the AN/SLQ-32 using

an AN/UYK-19 computer system. Created, evaluated, and performed training and test

procedures used to evaluate the suitability and operation of tactical EW systems. Managed

the planned maintenance schedule for the shipboard Electronic Warfare department. Produced

reports providing the operational status of the electronic equipment and software

performance. Conducted emergency circuit board and bench repair for shipboard electronic

systems. Trained and supervised a group of four personnel. Surface Warfare qualified.
