Work Experience

Summer internship at Robotics and Embedded Systems Lab (RESL) and Interaction lab, Viterbi School

of Engineering, University of Southern California as part of Viter bi India program.

Worked on Kinect Registration (registration of point clouds obtained from different

Microsoft Kinects) under the guidance of Prof. Gaurav Sukhatme and Prof. Maja Matari .

Experimented with calibration target and feature matching based approaches (SIFT on images,

FPFH and PFH on point cloud data).

Proposed a novel plane matching approach that utilized an error metric based on both depth

and colour information of the point cloud.

Implemented using ROS and PCL.

Teaching assistant for Artificial intelligence course, Spring 2011.

Course instructors - Prof. Rajeev Sangal, Dr. V Sriram and Mr. Prashant Mennon.

With other TA s, designed assignments on propositional logic and a set of three assignments

that involved POS tagging, dependency parsing and predicate logic generation and inference.

B.Tech. Project MAV, UGV joint SLAM September October, 2011

Title

Dr. Madhava Krishna

Built a joint SLAM system, along with a fellow student, comprising of a UGV and a MAV.

Description

The UGV carries a SICK laser and maps using gmapping while the MAV maps elevated

regions in the indoor setting using PTAM. Used AR-Markers to track the position of the MAV

with respect to the UGV. Built the entire system using the ROS framework. Results on

mapping using this joint system are available in this video.

Honors project - Peripheral Vision, Motion and colour perception

Conducted an experiment concerning peripheral vision and colour perception. Coloured

moving objects were shown in the periphery and the observer s reaction time was measured.

Preliminary data suggests that reaction time is effected by colour of object in periphery but

not the colour of fixate and also depends on direction of motion of foveal stimuli. This work

resulted in a term paper.

Socio-Economic Disruption due to Earthquake Disasters in India Engineering Systems course project

Led a team of 26 members to work towards a set of policies for mitigati on, preparedness and response to

earthquake disasters in India. Divided the team into sub-system teams based on the sector being affected,

namely transport, water, food and agriculture, power and communication.

Binocular Rivalry Summer work at Cognitive Science lab
