Chaired: Aging and Human Services Committee (1992-1994); Commerce Committee (1988-

1992); Insurance Committee (1987-1988); Miami-Dade County Legislative Delegation (1984-

1985).

Major Legislation: Banking, insurance, workers compensation, tort reform and medical

malpractice; prime sponsor and principal author of the 1988 Taxation and Budget Reform

Amendment to the Florida Constitution.

University of Miami (2004-2005)

Duties: Represented UM School of Medicine in the state capitol; authored the Enterprise Bill for

Patient Protection and Provider Liability; organized a statewide advocacy coalition to support

UM s legislative initiative; supervised a team of UM lobbyists; testified before various House

and Senate committees; coordinated with the Governor s office and other executive branch

officials.

Duties: Supervised all AIF lobbyists; analyzed and prioritized bills of interest to the Florida

business community; wrote AIF legislative agenda, mid-session status reports, and post-session
