Selected to recruit and oversee a team of 20 while managing a $1.34 million budget and steering environmental
research, communications, and development for the Nourishing the Planet project. Strengthened environmental
outreach and publicity by leveraging a network of 245 environment, agriculture, and journalists in print, radio, TV,
and web media spanning Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. Cultivated and led 40 of the world s most
respected food/agricultural experts for the Nourishing the Planet Advisory Group.
E nvironmental Innovat ion: Promote sustainable environmental solutions on a global scale by
conducting 350+ on-site visits with farmers, farmers groups, policymakers, scientists, researchers, and
NGOs in 25 sub-Saharan African nations. Analyze agriculture/poverty alleviation projects and forged an
outreach campaign to publicize emerging innovations.
- Catalyzed relationships with critical agricultural funders, holding more than 50 briefings with
organizations such as Heifer International, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ford
Foundation, the McKnight Foundation, the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation, Prince Charles Charities,
and government agencies, including the U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.K.
Department for International Development. Visited foundation projects and showcased successes
on Nourishing the Planet.

editing of State of the World 2011: Innovations that Nourish the Planet, the Worldwatch Institute s flagship
publication, published annually in more than 20 languages.

Washington, D.C. symposium and expanded foreign publication into India, Finland, Denmark, the
