Instrumental in IMPLEMENTATION of a new FIFO, RF real-time inventory control/order filling Warehouse Management System. SUCCESSFULLY TRAINED 2nd shift associates on use of new system.
DISTRIBUTION MANAGER, Austin Quality Foods
MANAGED 40 ASSOCIATES on three shifts within a 144,000 square foot Finished Goods Warehouse in receiving, packaging, and loading products. Supervised a weekly outbound volume of 100+ truckloads, 3500 pallets, and 4 million pounds of baked goods and 120-150 inbound trucks. Monitored systems and operations to ensure all functions were performed in the MOST COST EFFECTIVE MANNER. COORDINATED WORKFLOW to meet shipping requirements with production and other functional areas. Reviewed customer feedback and communicated information to associates.
Accomplishments
REDUCED and increased EFFICIENCY each year highlighted in 1996 when we:
o Production-to-Shipping time REDUCED to 48 hours, a reduction of 24 hours.
o REDUCED LABOR by 17,662 man-hours, a 25% reduction
o Spent $153,000 less in wages in 96 vs. 95
o INCREASED EFFICIENCY by 739 pounds/man-hour, a 34% increase
o LABOR COST per thousand pounds REDUCED by $.55, going from $5.15 to $4.60 (this includes wage increase for employees).
o Averaged 3.5 million pounds/week shipped; with a record is 4.5 million pounds.
Obtained the HIGHEST AUDIT SCORE from the American Institute of Baking ever received by company.
Took the LEAD in DEVELOPING a training and safety program to reduce warehouse training period from 90 days to six weeks.
PLAYED A KEY ROLE in relocating 4 warehouse operations into a single Distribution Center
ACHIEVED the highest audit score ever for the facility from the American Institute of Baking.
