• Asked by the Terminal Manager to takeover more city delivery routes, over the next few years purchased and hired 12 city drivers to run loads to our customers on a daily basis, purchased city pup trailers for better operating costs
• 1st dedicated driver to service inbound (railcars) and outbound loads for a large paint manufacture
• Developed the dedicated service into a daily contract to deliver all loads manufactured daily to 5 states. Best day was 976000 lbs. picked up and put into dispatch
• Set-up ongoing service through having 25 trailers and 6 dedicated daily drivers to service the account.
• Asked by Management to assume several Line haul routes in our Southern delivery area. This started with the purchase of 4 road tractors and the hiring of my first long haul drivers.
• I assumed one of the daily city dispatcher positions and stopped driving except for special delivery loads or missing drivers.
• Became the assistant terminal operations manager in 1980 and continued in that position until the company was sold to Yellow Freight Systems in 1992
• Kept my Line haul trucks and drivers contracted to Yellow Freight for the next two years when the contract ended
