As Director of Building instituted enforcement of all provisions of the Rhode Island State Building Code and all applicable statutes, rules, regulations, and Municipal ordinances. Spearheaded any question relative to the mode or manner of construction and the materials to be used in said construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, demolition, removal, installation of equipment and location, use, occupancy and maintenance of all structures. As Zoning Official was responsible for the enforcement and the zoning ordinance, duties include interpret and enforce provisions of the ordinance in the manner and form with the powers provided in the laws of the State of Rhode Island and in the Charter and Ordinances of the City to promote public health, safety, and welfare of the City. Implemented the closing of several Public Schools in the City of Warwick due to Asbestos for such reasons as stated about. As Minimum Housing Standards Official I was responsible for the enforcement of ordinances regarding the Housing and Maintenance regulations of the Municipality to include Legal Counsel instituting the appropriate proceeding at law or in equity in court of competent jurisdiction, including municipal housing courts when necessary. Assist Police, Fire, and Health Department when requested to promote health, safety and welfare of the public due to a natural and/or man-made disaster. Perform closely with Fire Prevention Bureau and Fire Alarm Division in the issuance of permits, inspections and certificates of use and occupancy.
