2010 present

Set up the photo-conductive scanning probe microscopy (SPM) and scanning impedance

microscopy

2009 present

Built a solvent annealing heating stage with controlled solvent vapor pressure and temperature,

equipped with a variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometer that measures the swelling of a sample

in-situ; investigated the spatial distribution of polystyrene-coated nanoparticles in homopolymer

melts (including PPO, TMPC, PMMA and MEH-PPV)

2008 2010

Studied the effects of the molecular weight and the composition of host polymers on the

micellization of diblock copolymers in thin film homopolymer and homopolymer blends

2008 present

Examined the effect of nanoparticles on the disorder-to-order transitions of thin film

block-copolymers

2008

Studied the absorption and scattering properties of gold nanoparticles; examined the effects of

their spatial distribution on the optical properties of conjugated polymers

2006 2009

Synthesized polymer-brush coated gold nanoparticles with varying core size and brush length;

synthesized silica nanoparticles, modified the particle surfaces and performed grafting-from

polymerization from the particle surfaces; modified the surface of titania nanoparticles

2006 2009

Collected the glass transition temperature data of a series of homopolymer-copolymer blend thin

films of different thicknesses on a custom-made heating stage equipped with a variable angle

spectroscopic ellipsometer. 2006
