Duties: As the Assistant Strategic Systems Program (SSP) Continuous Improvement Coordinator (CIC), the first

Duties: Virtual Reality development and implementation to support NASA Industrial Engineering, Collaborative

Engineering, Ground Operations, Technical and Astronaut Training operations.

Innovation Champion: Developed the work-flow pipeline to translate CAD drawing files for the Orbiter

Processing Facility, Payload Ground Handling Mechanism, MEDS Orbiter cockpit controls, Launch Control Center

firing Rooms, miscellaneous flight hardware and numerous technical training demonstrations from various file

formats into Maya binaries, CAD, MPEGS, Video, VRML, HTML, and Real-Time applications for use on PC, IRIX

and UNIX OS's.

Computer System Management: Administered a network of Silicon Graphics computers including an Origin,

Onyx's, Octanes and O2's with IRIX. Established and maintained interconnectivity between IRIX computers and

PC's using SAMBA. Implemented a real-time camera to VRML client project utilizing image recognition and 3D

models.

Cutting Edge Technology: Identified, obtained and implemented, and trained users for an

anthropometric/biometric avatar modeling software package called Transom Jack for human factors

engineering. Also identified and procured motion capture hardware for reduction of model c reation time and

Project Management:

Identification of company projects that required the services of the VR labs, developed the proposals, developed

the schedules and facilitated the work as well as produced a large share o f the final product for the following

projects:

Development of an improved method of orbiter dome heat shield installation and removal at remote landing

locations using design engineering methodology and virtual reality simulation.

Interfaced technician, design engineer, management and safety groups to provide a mutually desirable

redesign of the shuttle waste collection system installation and removal hardware.

Virtual assembly and design modeling of ground support hardware for the space Shuttle Transpor tation

System. Demonstration of virtual humans within the modeled environments to provide metrics for Industrial

Engineering qualification and approval.

Creation of virtual environments for the redesign of Shuttle RCC panel access platforms.

Personnel Accountability Tracking System for locating workers and astronauts on the Space Shuttle launch

pad. The system will display the results on a 3D model. Received "On the Spot Award" December 2003 in

recognition of Tracking System work.

Real-time tracking of ground support access platforms and orbiter aero surfaces, and relaying the information

Aerospace Electrical Test Operations Engineer

April 1996 to June 2000

Duties: Created and maintained software and procedures to perform automated test operations to certify the

thrust vector control (TVC) systems on the aft skirts of the space shuttle solid rocket boosters (SRBs). These

tests checked the integrated hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems that steer the SRBs. Conducted tests

on flight hardware for four years and performed troubleshooting as needed to ensure 100% compliance to NASA

requirements and safe, reliable space flight hardware deliveri es on schedule.

Test Engineering, Technical Writing:

Primary duties focused on the Aft Skirts, Actuators, TVC, and Auxiliary Power Units.

Developed and conducted Refurbishment Operations Documentation System procedures for operational and

technical work in relation to electrical test, checkout and flight of SRBs and associated systems.

Extensive experience in writing Non-conformance Information System Problem Reporting And Corrective

Action (NASA's PRACA system) dispositions, House Discrepant Audit, Co nfiguration Control Management

System, and Mapper systems.

Coordinated technical efforts with engineering personnel in relation to the test, checkout and flight of SRB

IEAs, avionics and associated systems.

Recommended design changes to electronic or electrical support equipment (SE) and Solid Rocket Booster

Created several DELPHI and C++ desktop applications to assist in test operations. One of these application s

decoded Multiplexor/De-multiplexor binary streams for troubleshooting purposes.

Developed and implemented an ATLAS software module for automated fueling of auxiliary power units with

hydrazine.

Developed and maintained Automated Checkout ATLAS software, and assisted maintaining VAX computer

systems and interfaces to the flight hardware.
