In the HSE Advisor role at North American Construction Group I was responsible for working
with a major heavy construction company in a mining environment in a health and safety role.
My duties were to assist in delivering and maintaining the health and safety policies and
procedures of the company and also the client Shell Canada at Albian Sands Muskeg River Mine
Site. My duties included but not limited to; safety training, incident investigations, hazard
assessments, site safety inspections, safety audits, safety orientations, interacting with foremen

HSE Manager Position Details at Stewart & Stevenson Canada Inc.
In the HSE Manager role at Stewart & Stevenson Canada Inc. I was responsible for Health Safety
& Environment Program for the Canadian based operations which included a 25 acre site and
consisted of 3 steel manufacturing/fabrication plants and responsible for over 200 employees
including supervision of 12 member Safety Committee.
I was responsible for developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, establishing a
safety culture and instilling a work safe atmosphere at the facility. I conducted hazard
assessment and risk analysis, worksite inspections and internal safety audits. I was also
responsible for ensuring full compliance with OH&S Codes and Regulations and to maintain a
good working relationship with Work Safe Alberta as well as our sponsoring association, The
Manufactures Health and Safety Association.
In addition I was responsible for sourcing safety training and conducting in house training for the
employees as per OH& S Code and Regulations and as job tasks required.
Accomplishments at Stewart and Stevenson include the following:
1. Crane safety training. I sourced out a reputable Crane Training Company and had 2
company employees trained as instructors to conduct in house training and this
measure resulted in $170,000 in savings for crane training for the company.
2. Safety policies and procedures resulted in an 80% reduction in incidents and LTC.
3. WCB Costs were reduced by 47%.
4. LTC Claims reduced from 16 to 4.
5. Lost time days reduced from 307 to 58.
6. Other training such as First Aid, WHMIS, Fall Protection, costs were significantly reduced
in cost by training in house instructors and securing reduced costs with vendors by
establishing a primary use policy.
7. Implementing a Leadership for Safety Excellence Course for all supervisors.
