Radiology Technologist

Perform radiologic examinations, to include: portable exams, fluoroscopic exams, trauma exams, surgical and routine exams. Provide patient care activities to adult, pediatric and neonatal patients. Other job specific duties performing on daily basis are as follow:

* Implement age specific care and interaction.

* Prepare room/equipment for radiologic examinations.

* Always use Proper Patient Identification - name and date of birth.

* Always adhere to HIPPA rules and regulations.

* Prepare and position patients for radiologic examinations according to

established department procedures.

* Operate equipment as necessary for completion of specific

examinations.

* Prepare opaque media as necessary for special examinations.

* Complete radiographic procedures on nursing divisions and in surgery.

* Assist the radiologist or surgeon in preparing for and during fluoroscopic and other special examinations.

* Anticipate patient needs and establish rapport with patient and family.

* Provide patients and families both with pre and post procedure information.

* Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

* Transport patients to and from the Radiology Department.

* Practice proper radiation protection methods.

* Be proficient in operating all radiology equipment.

* Possess adequate knowledge to properly troubleshoot the x-ray equipment and film processor to identify and explain non-functioning occurrences.

* Teach and oversee student technologists.

* Develop films using the film processor.

* Supply/stock x-ray exam rooms.

* Perform image processing via computer radiography system.

* Prepare exam request by computer (RIS) or manual method.

* Perform record keeping duties such as completing reports on examination, statistical reports, etc.

* Be able to use the PACS system.

* Perform filing/clerical duties such as obtaining previous films and generating requisitions.

* Schedule exams.

* Meet continuing education requirements.

* Communicate in a positive and helpful manner with hospital staff, physicians and patients!

* Be on call on a rotational basis- 24 hours a day for one week for emergency purposes.

Attended 2 year program from 2004-2006, to aide in becoming a Radiology Technologist. Member of Health Occupation Students of America. Selected as Class HOSA Reporter. Member of the Oklahoma Society of Radiology Technologists -to present. During the second year of program became a Student Technologist at Comanche County Memorial Hospital working evening and weekend shifts to further knowledge in the Radiology field.
