At Discovery House under Carole Kovacich I learned the three things about counseling teenagers that always work that gets down the the core problem. Sadness leads to madness and madness will lead to the badness. It can be so simple with the youth, they are so angry they are acting out and using drugs. I from Discovery House to Re-Integrating Youthful Offenders and was always very proud of the fact I was on the core group of people that opened it up. I worked out there for nine years and nine months. Licensed Addiction Consoler that can work with our youth, The teenager think can try any drug and not get addicted or become addicted by mom and dad giving it to them.During my time in the past twenty years I have also come across allot of youths with the dual diagnosis of a mental illness combined with a drug addiction. I am adapt at starting projects on my own. Being on the core people that opened Re-Integrating Youthful Offenders I became the Gang Coordinator. In this position I had to develop the Gang Awareness Group. I did this on my own when gang activity was just starting to be taken serious by our correction in the state. I establishes, evaluated the gang graffiti that the youths where drawing on the building and soon we where able to put a stop to it. I instructed other JCO's on gang graffiti and tattoos and also the meaning of the colors. I also belonged to the Montana Gang Force from 2005-2008 I was secretary during this time.

I have met the qualifications for the hours in educations through my degree. What I need is my 1000 hours of internship hours before I can take the exam. Juvenile Correctional Officer/ Gang Awareness Coordinator
They are the corporation that owns Re-Integrating Youthful Offenders where I worked as a Juvenile Correctional Officer for nine years and nine months. It a private program with a private contract with the federal government that house felon youthful offenders in a maximum security prison. The duties of the JCO's was to manage monitor and prepare the youths for the outside after the sentence is complete. Desolation treatment is used as a method to calm the youth offenders down. This method is proven the best way, to prevent injury to the youth and the personal. Level system behavior was used to chart the youths progress to move up the levels the youths had to follow all of the rules of RYO and go beyond being a good citizen of the pod. We charted collected and conducted data on the behavior daily to determine what scores they would receive from each shift. This would determine what level they could move up each eight weeks. To a higher level or a lower level they could be dropped to if scores are no maintained

Discovery House is a Shelter Group home for youths from the age of 10-18. They are placed there by Social Services or Youth Probation. The youths that came in from Social Services where youths that usually ran away from foster care homes, or there own homes where unlivable. The youths placed by youth probation usually broke there probation and this was a break from there community, home and friends. We provided a safe home environment for the youths. They attended school, a tutor was at the house after school. Home made dinners, family style meals are provided by the care attendants. Allot of time is spent with the youths deescalating a situation with one youth or several youths at once. Recreation activities everyday with the youths.
