I am a programmer with almost 30 years of experience in the IT business. In my country Guatemala, I received a hight school diploma in Computer Studies in the mid 80's. Since coming to America I have worked in all kind of environments, first as a consultant, then as a permanent employee. I have worked in manufacturing commercial companies, movie studios. After over 20 years of exclusively working on the System i (AS400) environment, I have had the opportunity to work on web applications using Object Oriented languages such as ASNA Visual RPG, JavaScript, HTML, C# and some JAVA. When my current company found itself in the need of web applications (for newly opened Remote Warehouses), since we did not have any in house web developers, we were facing almost $100,000 in fees to have an outside vendor. On my own, I started looking for alternatives, finding ASNA. This company developed an Object Oriented RPG for .NET. This allowed us to use our expertise in RPG and apply it web development. This saved the company about $75,000. I am looking to expand my horizons and hoping to find a workplace that would allow me to continue my education in the newest technologies.
