Mellon Reach Conversion
April 02 to Nov 03
Mellon Bank
Role: Trainee Java Programmer
Reach is a Sales Force Automation (SFA) application in use by more than 15 lines of
business across the Mellon enterprise. The objective of the Reach product is to provide a
common tool for managing contact information, tracking sales and marketing efforts,
working opportunities, and keeping record of the multiple contact points within Mellon
assisting with a customer relationship. Prior to Reach s inception, many lines of business
were using tools specific to their groups and were as a result often working in isolation
and unaware of the many sales engagements across Mellon as a whole. Reach includes many of
the core features of these prior departmental tools and provides a broad enterprise-level
perspective on the relationship Mellon has with a particular prospect, customer, or
intermediary.
Current application was developed using Lotus Notes and the application uses Business
Objects for reporting. Business Objects uses Oracle to fetch data for its reports. A data
refresh job runs daily to move the data from Lotus Notes to Oracle database.
Mellon proposes to rewrite this application into a web enabled one using the Rapid
Application Development (RAD) tool Flow builder to overcome the constraints in the
existing system. The proposed application will use Tomcat as application server and Oracle
as database server. The reports will be rewritten using Report Mill and PDF generator.
Responsibilities:
Fixing the defects and Performing Enhancements
Environment: XML, XSP, XML Schema, Java, Oracle, Power Builder, Report Mill, Tomcat
