Directly responsible for the development of a strategic patent portfolio that in addition to securing technical innovations also provided protection for the application of this novel technology in specific markets, devices, and mobile applications. Responsible for tasking and control of outside counsel for strategy development, outside counsel for tactical work, e.g. IP utility filing, PCT filing and prosecution.

This included the definition of product requirements to meet the target market, operational requirements, rollout strategy, 3rd party involvement, and cost assessment, feature requirements for H.248 and SIP VoIP Interfaces, and the mediation of the GR303 Interface to H.248 VoIP. Analyzed and selected Session Border Controllers for VoIP Networks.

Primary point-of-contact and mediator for the parent Hitachi Japan and the local Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc. Provided concept papers and solution presentations to the involved departments, made proposals for implementation alternatives, negotiated implementation schedules and availability dates with the parent R&D organization in Japan, and communicated the architecture and associated operational benefits to prospective customers.

Designed large scale 39 GHz based wireless backhaul IP networks for the transport of cellular traffic from Cell Sites of Mobile Network Operators to their Switching Offices including a highly saleable OSS infrastructure for Network Management, Service Ordering, Billing, Trouble Ticketing, and Inventory. The heart of the system was the Harris NetBOSS fault management system capable of managing several thousand radios and IP gear.

Specified Network Topology and network management solutions, calculated network cost based on BOM, managed the ordering process for several hundreds of radios and the acquisition of fiber routes for the core network architecture.

Presented network solutions including the underlying technical concepts to the customer and had a major role in obtaining service orders.
