Resume:

Abigail Crovisier's Career

Saturday, September 1, 2012

Hi, I'm Abbie, and this is my career!

Welcome to my resume presentation. Thank you for stopping by, please take a little time and have a look around. My goal is to provide you with better insight into who I am and what I'm capable of in my career.

Once you're done here if you'd like to see more, please take a look at my and my site.

I can be reached either through my LinkedIn Inbox or by email at **********@*****.***. I can also be reached by phone at 805-***-****.

My Career

My career path has been focused on biotech and lab centered research since college. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the lab but have been wanting to branch out more and explore other areas of the business.

I developed an interest in the managerial aspects of running a lab so my manager offered to mentor me. Under her guidance I have prepared for a leadership role within

my current group. I've found that I enjoy the managerial duties and business aspects of my role but I still like to get my hands dirty in the lab. A position where I could spend time in both areas would be ideal for me.

My Experience

Since 2006 I have been working at Amgen in Thousand Oaks as a member of the Media Sciences group. In that time I have been consistently promoted to positions of increasing responsibility.

While working within this group I've had the opportunity to develop expertise in the preparation of solutions, buffers and cell/tissue culture media for use in both research and regulatory settings. Besides keeping track of all the things needed to run a lab on a daily basis I develop and review a variety of technical documents, including SOPs, BPs, Job Hazard Assessments, Job Training Methods, and Reagent Recipe Reports. I monitor and trend data within CEMS as well as calculate and track operational metrics.

But what I enjoy most is leading my team of eight. We run three media prep labs involved in GLP, GMP and research functions. Prior to working at Amgen I'd worked mostly independently and not as part of a team. Since joining Media Prep Group I've learned to appreciate being part of a team. It was a transition for me that I've learned to embrace and take inspiration from. I especially enjoy the greater sense of accomplishment when successes are shared as a team. Together we build a stronger unit and empower each other as individuals. The experiences I've had as part of a team will influence me for the rest of my life.

Prior to Amgen...

From 2001 to 2006 I worked at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita as an instructional lab tech preparing reagents and setting up supplies for various labs in Microbiology, Biotech and Molecular Genetics. I also maintained 45 live bacterial, fungal and mammalian cell lines. But the best part were the student workers I supervised.

There were usually 3-4 of them and I learned a lot about managing people from them. I realized that everyone is different and requires a slightly different approach. It's important to understand that each person is just as important as the next and has something unique to contribute to the common goal getting a job completed.

And Before College of the Canyons...

I worked from 2000 to 2003 for LA-OC Biotech Center and BioCatalytics both located in Pasadena. I prepared buffered solutions and bacterial growth media while maintaining bacterial cultures. It was here I really got to indulge in my technical side and developed my expertise in running DNA gels, PCR and gel electrophoresis.

Awards

I've been honored to receive a few awards along the way, too.

I received the BioCatalytics Industry Award for academic excellence in Biotech.

I was also awarded the William C. Miller Scholarship for academic excellence in Biological Sciences.

And I received the Life Science Superior Service Award for Microbiology tutoring.

My Education

Pasadena City College - A.S.

Biology/Cal State Biotech Certificate

University of Southern California - B.A.

With a minor in Biotechnology

Cal State Channel Islands -

Biotech Training in preparation for the Biotech Graduate Program
