Took the initiative to design and develop a new 2D animation system for Urban Crime

Researched scalable delivery cloud platforms for DBaaS; Websphere Application Server vs. DB2 PureScale.

Assessed the technical merits and pitfalls of each platform choice.

Created a JAVA-based API adapter for DBaaS to control a PureScale instance.

Integrated the API into the service using a memory-cache model, representing a complete PureScale

instance to prevent excessive communications between the DBaaS service and the PureScale controller.

DB2 Health Advisor Service

IBM Canada Ltd.

Improved scalability on large distributed systems for the DB2 Health Advisor Service.

Refactored the project to use threaded code for parallel execution for multiple database nodes.

Reduced the size of generated XML output by 50% or more for large-scale systems.

Ubuntu DB2 Express-C Appliances

IBM Canada Ltd.

Created a way to quickly introduce users to DB2 Express-C on Linux by building Debian packages.

Assembled ready-made appliances for multiple hardware architectures, both in virtualized and non-

virtualized environments.

This project helped Canonical sell support contracts to Ubuntu LTS customers and directly has had a

positive impact on IBM's revenue.

Image Deployment System (ImDS)

IBM Canada Ltd.

Co-designed and developed a highly scalable, distributed P2P framework.

The system allowed for automation and deployment of terrabytes of data to thousands of remote

machines.

Created the front-end interface for the system, and helped design the service layer, which facilitated

communicatons between the back-end and front-end.

The system is frequently used by IBM in large conference deployment logistics. It has had successful

applications at Information on Demand in Las Vegas, 2007, SAP T ech. Ed. Orlando, 2008 and Information on

Demand Europe, 2008.
