IT SYSTEMS ARCHITECT
Results oriented Computer Systems Architect with expertise in the Information Technology (IT) and
Manufacturing Industries and deep understanding of quality processes and IT standards. Team oriented
individual with good interpersonal skills and great technical skills. Strategic thinker and innovator,
catalyst for change in an organization. Consultant and trusted advisor to non-profit leaders, small business
owners, and Fortune 500 executives.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Electronic Data Systems (EDS an HP Company), Detroit, MI 1988-2009
SYSTEMS ARCHITECT EDS/HP ENTERPRISE SERVICE MANAGEMENT GROUP (2007-2009)
Responsible for system integration designs for large multi-vendor configuration management database
(CMDB) supporting thousands of computer systems for clients such as General Motors, Kraft Foods, and
the United Kingdom (UK) Department of Works and Pensions (DWP). Responsible for consolidation
and elimination of redundant systems and structural cost reduction throughout the enterprise.
Identified critical design flaws in several components of the CMDB. Assisted global process
owner in setting priorities for resolving issues and meeting business goals.
Created detailed list of redundant and under-utilized systems, along with an executive dashboard
for tracking structural cost reductions.
Consolidated 21 knowledge management systems down to seven systems, simplifying operations,
and reducing service management costs by $140 Million
INFRASTRUCTURE SPECIALIST GM GLOBAL ACCOUNT (2003-2007)
Responsible for web development team supporting EDS account at GM World Headquarters. Developed
strategic vision and plan to support sales teams in winning $15 Billion GM enterprise wide IT contracts.
Created, designed, and developed Global Visualization (GV is patent pending) a web portal that
managed GM's world wide IT infrastructure using an ITIL framework.
Result: EDS won over 70% of the contract despite stiff competion from IBM and others.
Developed GV web portal prototype ahead of schedule; wrote all HTML templates and CSS
styles for GV 1.0, and developed data-tables and SQL routines and DB interfaces.
Lead development team (web developers, Java developers, project managers) in creating and
deploying GV 2.0 and continued supporting GV production support through GV release 4.0
Identified frameworks, methods and metrics for managing all GM's service level metrics (SLA's)
for EDS, HP and other GM IT suppliers.
Developed system of health checks to monitor critical IT systems at hundreds of GM facilities
around the globe and dynamically presented the results on GV's executive dashboard.
NETWORK ENGINEER, AND NETWORK TEAM LEADER (1995-2003)
Responsible for the design and installation of IT systems networks (Ethernet, FDDI, etc.) at engineering,
manufacturing and business support centers for General Motors.
Demonstrated thought leadership and innovation by installing the first Ethernet Switching devices
on a network at a GM manufacturing plant.
Relocated the Pontiac Metal Fabrication manufacturing data center to a new facility, with no
service outages, and resulting in zero (0.00) GM Metal Fab lost manufacturing units during the
network changes and server moves.
Successfully led team that moved/migrated 10,000 network attached computer devices (routers,
switches, servers, PCs, workstations, printers) from GM old headquarters (and other GM
facilities) into GM's new world headquarters at the Renaissance Center in Detroit.
Collaborated with project managers to create cost estimates, timelines, and project plans to keep
projects running smoothly.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER AND BUSINESS RELATIONS ANALYST (1988-1995)
Responsible for the design, development and installation of PC based, client server, networked IT systems
for the General Motors account, at various location around the Detroit area.
Performed requirements analysis, database design, and application development for Cadillac
Headquarters Vehicle Tracking System (VTS). System was used by Cadillac engineers and
executives to track scheduled test drives for vehicles.
While working with GM Truck Plant engineers in Pontiac, Michigan, I discovered that the plant
manager was concerned about VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions from paint booth
burn off, and the potential liabilities. Working together, we developed a process that would track
VOC emissions. The system VOC system was designed, developed, and deployed quickly,
helping GM plant managers avoid millions of dollars in possible EPA fines, in addition to
reducing costs for solvent supplies.
Provided consulting to clients at Buick/Olds/Cadillac (BOC) to develop an application systems
catalog. The application systems database (or catalog) could track and rate IT systems by budget
figure, functionality, and business value. This database was maintained for several years and later
was merged (data migrated) to a larger GM IS&S corporate system (ATS the Application
Tracking System similar to EDS Answers). Helped GM create a unified enterprise-wide IT
vision. GM IS&S continues to use ATS to understand the business value (and business
alignment) of each system that is being maintained and can now effectively align and plan
systems around the globe with a portfolio management approach.
CCUA, Inc. 1983-1988
