WORK Research Assistant, Univ. of South Florida Spring 2011 Summer 2012
EXPERIENCE Detection of oil-bubbles in images of water from BP Gulf Oil Spill. The image data is
obtained with the help of SIPPER (Shadow Imaging Particle Pro ler and Evaluation
Reporter) during several cruises to the BP Oil Spill area. My responsibilities include
research and development of image processing and machine learning techniques to
discern suspected oil-bubbles from plankton particles present in the images.
Research Intern, Brimrose Corporation Summer 2010
Internship at Brimrose Corporation (www.brimrose.com). Research and development
of miniaturized hyperspectral imaging system based on Acousto-Optical Tunable Filter.
Development of an application for collection of valid hyperspectral image data.
Research on the classi cation of pixels in hyperspectral images based on signa-
tures of materials.
Research Assistant, Univ. of South Florida Fall 2007 Fall 2009
Buoy-based visual surveillance system for maritime tra c. Joint project with Center of
Ocean Technology at the University of South Florida. My duties included research and
development of algorithms for visual surveillance under maritime conditions, software
development of the prototype of the system, and publication of results.
Research Assistant, Univ. of South Florida Summer 2006 Summer 2007
Development of a custom web-based expert system at the H. Lee Mo tt Cancer Center
and Research Institute to help physicians screen patients for phase II clinical trials. Re-
search on mining patients data for the purpose of automated screening. Development
of medical informatics system.
Research Assistant, Univ. of South Florida Summer 2006
Gait-based human recognition from video sequences. Research on use of HDTV-
resolution video data for automatic gait recognition.
