RESEARCH EXPERIENCES
Supervised Research
Advanced Integration and Mining Laboratory, University of Oregon
Research Advisor: Professor Dejing Dou
Knowledge Translation with Uncertainty in Semantic Data Mining (Jun 2010- present)
- Building an ontology-based framework to translate mined knowledge from source ontology to
heterogeneous target ontology without accessing actual data
- Using automatic ontology matching algorithms (Falcon-AO, Anchor Flood) for generating all
possible mappings between two heterogeneous ontologies of test domains
- Proposed a method using fuzzy logic for clustering ontology mappings, based on their uncertainty
Research Assistant
Department of Computer Science, University of Oregon
Research Advisor: Professor Michal Young, Department of CS, University of Oregon
Professor Amy Lobben, Department of Geography, University of Oregon
Funded Project: National Institutes of Health (NIH)
Haptic Soundscape minimum GIS interface (Dec 2009 - Present)
- Designing a pedagogical tool for visually impaired geography students
- Experimenting on the use, manipulation and retrieval of geographical data to build GIS features
- Developing a map interface on top of ESRI arcGIS engine with audio and haptic responses
- Considering specialized GIS features for visually impaired students to help them acquire complex
spatial knowledge
Undergraduate Thesis
Research Advisor: Professor M.M.A. Hashem, Department of CS, KUET, Bangladesh
Fuzzy Knowledge Integration (Apr 2006 - Mar 2007)
- Proposed and implemented a fuzzy knowledge integration framework
- Used Novel Evolutionary Algorithm (NEA) with an improved mutation operation
- Evaluated performance by applying the framework in four different knowledge domains
- Compared the results with other two approaches: Genetic Algorithm and Bayes Method.
